Surah al-Ikhlas-Sincerity, the 112th Chapter of the Glorious Qur’an

Ikhlas is a Concept of Purity that is NOT Tainted with Pride.

I seek refuge in Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala, from the Shaitan.
Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala’s name I begin, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
All praise be to Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala, Lord of the worlds, who has disposed all matters through His arrangements thereof,
Who has fairly composed His creation and given it excellent form, good structure and proportion.
And may blessings and salutation be invoked upon Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam), the bondsman of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala,
His Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam), loved one and chosen one, who was His bearer of good tidings and His Warner, from the lines of whose brow the radiance of Prophet  Hood, shone forth.
Auspicious prayers are on Ahl-e-Bait and on all his just and devoted Companions.
There are certain Suras or Ayahs of the Qur'an which, it is reported, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam), used to recite more often in particular Prayers or on specific occasions, or which he especially extolled by describing their excellent merits and special rewards. You should know them.

The Hadith given below are not meant to prove the superiority of one part of the Qur'an over another. Nor should you ignore the rest of the Qur'an and occupy yourself in reading and memorizing these at the expense of the rest.
These selections are useful only because one cannot memorize and read everything every day and because one usually needs to habituate oneself to the reading of a definite portion regularly. What could be better than to follow the
Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam), and hope for the rewards he has promised.

Surah at-Tawhid (The Unity)
This Surah was revealed in Makkah and it has 4 verses.
It is also known as Surah al-Ikhlas.

Surah Al- Ikhlas – Sincerity, the 112th Chapter of the Glorious Qur’an is a pure description of the Creator and to acknowledge the total state of belief in Him and His Uniqueness.

Say: He is Allah, Absolute Oneness,

Allah, the ever lasting Sustainer of all.

He has not given birth and was not born.

And no one is comparable to Him.

It is narrated from the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) that whoever recites this
Surah once will get the reward equal to ten times the number of people who have believed in the Islamic teachings.
This Surah has many other rewards and its recitation is compared to reciting a third of the Holy Qur’an.
Reciting it once is a means of blessings for the reciter, if recited twice then the blessings are also showered upon the children of the reciters.
Reciting it thrice brings blessings on the entire family of the reciters.
If Surah al-Ikhlas is recited 11 times, the recite will have palaces built for him in Jannah.
When a person recites this Surah 100 times, all his sins for the past 25 years are forgiven (accept the sins of killing an innocent person or usurping the property of people). The one who recites it 1000 times will not die unless he sees his place in Jannah.
The constant recitation of Surat al-Ikhlas increases the presence of the angels at the time of death.
In a hadith narrated by Abu Umaamah (Radiyallaahu anhu), the angel Gabriel came to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) whilst in Tabuk and said: "o Mohamed!   Go and attend the funeral of mu-a'weyah al-Muzani (Radiyallaahu anhu)."   The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) went and the angel Gabriel A.S. came down amongst 70,000 angels.
Then the angel Gabriel stretched his right wing over the mountains and they lowered themselves in humbleness, and he stretched his left wing over the earth and it lowered itself in humbleness to the point where he could see Mecca and medina.
Then the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam), Gabriel and the angels offered prayer on that companion and when the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) finished the prayer, he said: 'o Gabriel!   How did mu-a'weyah reach this status?'  And angel Gabriel replied: 'by reading Surat Qul hu-wallaahu 'Ahad whilst sitting, walking and riding.'" (Subhanallah).

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) once advised a poor person to always say ‘salaam’ when entering his house, even if there was nobody there, and then recite Surah at-Tawhid. After a little while, the man became abundantly wealthy.

Al-Bukhari recorded this Hadith in his Book of Tawhid. Muslim and An-Nasa'i also recorded it. In his Book of Salah,
Al-Bukhari recorded that Anas (Radiyallaahu anhu) said, "A man from the Ansar used to lead the people in prayer in the Masjid of Qubbah'.
Whenever he began a Surah in the recitation of the prayer that he was leading them, he would start by reciting `Say: He is Allah, One' until he completed the entire Surah. Then he would recite another Surah along with it (after it). And he used to do this in every Rak’ah. So his companions spoke to him about this saying; `Verily, you begin the prayer with this Surah. Then you think that it is not sufficient for you unless you recite another Surah as well. So you should either recite it or leave it and recite another Surah instead.' The man replied, `I will not leave it off. If you want me to continue leading you (in prayer), I will do this; and if you all do not like it, I will leave you (i.e., I will stop leading you).' They used to consider him to be of the best of them to lead them in prayer and they did not want anyone else to lead them other than him. So, when the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) came they informed him of this information and he said,

(O so-and-so! What prevents you from doing what your companions are commanding you to do, and what makes you adhere to the recitation of this Surah in every Rak’ah) The man said, `Verily, I love it.' Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) replied,
(Your love of it will cause you to enter Paradise.)

There are three levels of Ikhlas – Sincerity. The first is darajah al Awam –
The level of the common people: - those who ask for earthly desire and for the Hereafter. The second is darajah al khawass – The level of the special people, - those who ask for heavenly favors and the third is darajah khawass al khawass – The level of the elect of the special people - those people whose sole purpose is to be good servants of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala, – Uboodiyyah.

Anas, Radiyallaahu anhu. Mentioned that a man said to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam), ‘I really love this Surah’ .Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) replied, ‘and your love for it will enable you to enter paradise’

Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) appointed a man to lead a battalion, the man always recite Al-Ikhlas in Salat,
The people complained to the prophet when they got back and the prophet asked the man why he always recites Al-Ikhlas.
The man replied because he loves the Surah since it tells him who Allah is. Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) told him that Angel Jibril informed him that Allah had forgiven him all his sins and granted him Jannah because of this!

The Arabic root of the word Ikhlas is kh-l-s, which means to be purified or refined. The very concept of refining, purifying and leaving nothing but the very essence of that, which was sought, which, in this case, is Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala.  Ikhlas is also explained as a simile that is as pure as honey or as pure as milk, which is direct from the udders of a cow and is not tainted with anything? Ikhlas is a concept of purity that is not tainted with pride – Riya or anything else.  That is not to do anything in our life, other then for the sake and pleasure of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala.

The underlying purpose to understand the meaning of the Arabic concept word Ikhlas is to establish in our hearts, its characteristic and value as a state and to keep firm to the submission, obedience and devotion of the Creator and not to worship anyone but Him.

Sahih Bukhari
Volume 9, Book 93, Number 471:
Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri (Radiyallaahu anhu):
A man heard another man reciting (in the prayers): ‘Say (O Muhammad): “He is Allah, the One.” (112.1) and he recited it repeatedly.
When it was morning, he went to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) and informed him about that as if he considered that the recitation of that Sura by itself was not enough.
Allah’s Apostle said, “By Him in Whose Hand my life is, it is equal to one-third of the Quran.”

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) mentioned that Surah al Ikhlas is equal to one third of the Glorious Qur’an because it explains in a concise manner the principles of the Oneness of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala – Tawhid, which is the cornerstone of the Din of Islam.  By reciting this Surah repeatedly, having faith in it and living its meaning in our constant worship of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala, helps us develop and instill the value of Ikhlas.

How to attain these high levels of Ikhlas: - sincerity. Firstly, correcting one’s deeds through Ikhlas – sincerity and actively taking part and contributing in righteous deeds and secondly, correcting one’s sincerity by vigilantly keeping away from fame. To be distant: from showing off and ostentation in ones intention and conduct. Other factors as extra prayers that are most essential to instill the value of Ikhlas in our hearts, as it is with these prayers that a servant of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala draws closer to Him.
In the Qur'an in Surah 26 as Shu’ara –The poets, Verse 87-89, Allah says that on the Day of Judgment, nothing will be of any use to us, except a sound heart – Qalbun Salem

    87. And do not disgrace me on the Day they are raised up,

    88. The Day when neither wealth nor sons will be of any use –

    89. Accept to those that who came to Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala with a sound and flawless hearts.

His Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said that to nourish a seed, it requires good soil to germinate it in and so Hikma – wisdom and Ikhlas - sincerity are required to groom a pure heart.

The fine words of Jalaluddin Al Rumi advices that:
“You should be sincere in your deeds, So that the Majestic Lord may accept them.
Sincerity is the wing of the bird of the acts of obedience.
Without a wing, how can you fly to the abode of prosperity?”

The following words Sheikh Bayazid Al Bistami (Rahmatullahi) are also very appropriate:
“I worshipped my Lord for thirty years with all my strength.
Then I heard a voice saying: O Bayazid! The treasures of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala,        Almighty are full of acts of worship.
If you intend to reach Him, see yourself as small at the door of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala and be sincere in your deeds.”
Self supervision is an essential dimension of Ikhlas – sincerity, and a truly sincere person does not consider any possible spiritual pleasure that may be derived, or speculate upon whether it will ensure entrance to Paradise.  Sincerity is a secret between Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala and the Abd – servant, who worships Him as He should be worshipped.

These levels of Ikhlas - sincerity can be achieved by active effort, total obedience, watchfulness, mindfulness, and devotion to Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala, the Ahad - One, the Samad - Eternal.
Ikhlas - sincerity and fame cannot be together in the same heart.
One needs to be strong to get rid of hypocrisy, which is the direct opposite of sincerity.
Our heart must be free from our lower desires – Hawa and must be pure for a union between Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala and our spirit – the Ruh.

A Hadith Qudsi further shows us, how our characters are affected by not being sincere. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said, “I fear for my Ummah a hidden shirk and that shirk is Riya – Pride, Hypocrisy. Beware of this Shirk Khafiya – Hidden Shirk, as it is like a black ant walking on a black rock on a dark moonless night. We have to be careful that we do not place anything in our hearts other then Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala - we must be aware that our lower ego places itself before everything including The Creator, thus committing this hidden Shirk.

As Riya - Pride, Nifaq - hypocrisy etc are diseases of the heart,  advices for an active antidote, which is to practice Ikhlas – sincerity to Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala, Siddiq – to be truthful to  Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala and to make Zikr Allah – to remember and invoke  Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala.  To condition and nourish the heart with these three characteristics and methods will be a step forward to achieve a Qalbun Salem – a tranquil and sound heart.  Qalbun Salem is the state of a pure heart that is a guiding principle in worshipping and achieving closeness to Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala.

Ikhlas must reflect in everything we do – our intentions, our Salah, etc.

A Hadith of The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) speaks of Ikhlas - sincerity in the time of giving charity. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said that your left hand must not know what your right hand gives.

This Surah show us that Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala is Unique and allows us to perhaps visualize His light and Majesty. If we are sincere to the Creator then He will share with us His sincerity.

Mukhlis means to be sincere and a Mukhlis is a sincere one chosen by Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala. These are the people who achieve the highest stage of Ikhlas and are Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala’s dedicated friends - awliyâ.
The Mukhlis is the one in whose sight there is always a meeting with his Lord.

“Abu Darda (Radiyallaahu anhu) reported Allah's messenger as saying, "Is any of you capable of reciting a third of the Qur'an in a night?" On being asked how they could recite a third of the Qur'an he replied, " 'Say, He is God, One' is equivalent to a third of the Qur'an." Muslim transmitted it, and Bukhari transmitted it from Abu Sa'id."

Hadrat Ali (Radiyallaahu anhu) said that that there is no interpretation for this Surah because its meaning is not veiled. [4] The Surah is sometimes called The Surah of Unity and is said to encapsulate the essence of the whole Qur'an

Asbab al nuzul- cause of revelation (history behind the revelation)
The Arabs of Makkah came to the prophet and said we already know Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala, who is this Allah you are talking about?
The Arabs knew about Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala because Prophet Ibrahim alaihi salaam. Had taught them and built the Kabba for the worship of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (the prophet’s father was Abdullah”)

Lucaya ibn Amr came back from Syria with an idol named “Hubbal” and so the Arabs abandoned what Ibrahim alaihi salaam. Had taught them and began worshiping the idol to the extent they were worshipping 365 idols!
The Prophet had to come to bring them back to the religion of Ibrahim alaihi salaam.

ALLAH IS ONE
In Arabian Peninsula:  some Arab tribes were Christians/Jews/pagans
In Madinah: 5 tribes: 3 Jewish (Banu kanaka, Banu Nadir and Banu Qutaadah)/ 2 Arabs (al-aws and al-Khazraj)
Jews didn’t have a problem accepting Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala’s unity but they are racist
Pagans knew Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala, but wouldn’t single him out for worship
When kafirs (atheists or pagans) are in trouble they call on Allah but then revert to disbelief when they feel secure again.  Kafirs are opportunists [29:65]
If there had been more than one god governing the universe, both the heavens and earth would have been destroyed.  If there would be conflict who would back down?  And God doesn’t back down

ALLAH is SELF SUFFICIENT (NO BEGINNING AND END)
Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala has no beginning or end
Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala didn’t ever come into existence, he has always existed it is we who have come into existed, there was a time when we didn’t exist creation has a beginning and an end.
Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala doesn’t have any systems/needs/and he cannot die

HE DOESN’T HAVE KIDS AND HE DIDN’T COME FROM ANY ONE
He cannot beget (this is a human act and above the dignity/majesty of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala)
This is to refute the Christians
Almost the seven heavens burst and the earth cleft asunder and the mountains reduce to powder/dust when they utter this lie! [19:88-91]
Subhanallah- Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala is above all Human Imperfections
Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala has the capacity to do all things, but there are some things it is haram for Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala to do (Lie, Oppress people).
One of the things haram for Ibrahim alaihi salaam is to beget.
How can he beget when he tells us he has no consort [6:101]
Goes against text/intellect (naql or aql)

The Prophet Peace and blessings of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala be upon him, passed by a person reciting Surah Al – Kafirun and remarked, “He has been saved from shirk”. He passed by another reciting Surah Al – Ikhlas and remarked. Paradise has become obligatory for him.   Reported by Muslim.

These two chapters have both been given the title Al-Ikhlas, or purity of faith, because they deal with the topic of Tawhid in all its various aspects. Al – Ikhlas concentrates on the pure, essential faith in Allah that all mankind is required to have. Al – Kafirun deals with purity of deed and disavowal of disbelief and paganism. Both chapters lay out the parameters of mans relationship with his/her lord and creator, as well as his/her relationship those around him/her.

Pure, unblemished monotheism combined with sincerity in belief and deed defines the relationship with Allah. He is one and only true God, unique, without peer, equal or opposite, and nothing is like on to him. He is the one who stands in need of nothing whereas everything is in dire need of him.

Maintaining the essential Muslim identity and character defines the relationship between the Muslim and his fellow man. The Muslim is unambiguous about his religion, truthful and upright in speech, deed and his dealings with those around him. Hi is proud of his faith and has unshakable conviction in it. He loves his lord, his Messenger and the Muslims and is loyal to them. Because of this, the dearest thing to him is his religion and he will not compromise it, pleasing Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala comes before pleasing the people.

The prophet would frequently recite these two chapters in prayer because of the commonality of their theme and to stress that success is achieved, in this life and the next, by internalizing their message and living by it.

This is an awesome Surah, it is so easy and small to recite but so much value we will get on the Day of Judgment.
May Allah Ta’aala make us all from those whose deeds are done in accordance with the Sunnah, deeds that are done sincerely for the sake of Allah?

May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) help us to do that which He loves and which pleases Him?
May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) make our efforts sincere and keep us all on the straight path...........

Freedom of the Desire for Nearness to Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)

Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala, send peace and blessings upon our The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) and his companions,

Al-Hamdu Lillaahi Rabbil 'Alamin was-Salaatul was-Salamu 'alaa Asra fil Anbiyaa wal Mursaleen.
“There is no helper but Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD),
No guide but (Prophet Muhammad Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) messenger of Allah  Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), no provision but Taqwa.
PRACTICAL MANIFESTATIONS OF IKHLAS

1. It is singling out Allah with one's intention in all acts of worship

2. It is forgetting the sight of the creation by continual observance of the Creator

3. It is to hide your good deeds just like you would hide your evil deeds

4. It is the freedom of the desire for nearness to Allah from every blemish or impurity
The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said: Verily for every fact there is a reality and the reality of sincerity is that man does not attain sincerity unless he dislikes praise by the people for his deeds.

An Arab came to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) and said:
O Messenger of God! Some people wage jihad on the basis of racial or national prejudices and some to exhibit their bravery, and some only for the sake of Allah. In response the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said:
The way of only that person is the Way of Allah who fights for the victory of truth over falsehood.

It is necessary for us to understand that anything that is not done purely for God and without sincerity gives no benefit to man, rather, it is harmful for the hereafter.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said:
Many a times a man who fasts does not derive anything from his fast except hunger and thirst and many worshippers worshiping during nights will not get from their awakening except sleeplessness.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) has reportedly said:
The reward of every deed depends upon and is according to the intention and it is the intended thing that everyone gets;
So one who migrates toward Allah and His Messenger has his migration toward Allah and His Prophet;
And if one migrates for any worldly benefit or for marrying a woman, his migration is for that thing which he intended.

There are many narrations on this subject and we should know that nobody is safe from the conspiracy of Shaitan except
when under the shade of purity of deed.
The Holy Quran says: He said: My Lord! Because Thou hast made life evil to me,
I will certainly make evil fair seeming to them on earth, and I will certainly cause them all to deviate, except Thy servants from

among them, the devoted ones.

At another place Shaitan is quoted: Then by Thy Might I will surely make them live an evil life, all except Thy servants from among them, the purified ones.

So it is well known that special rewards of the Lord reach only the honest. Likewise it is said about Yusuf (alayhi salaam):

Thus it was that We might turn away from him evil and indecency, surely he was one of Our sincere servants.

It is said about Musa (alayhi salaam): And mention Musa in the Book; surely he was one purified; and he was an apostle, a Prophet.

And remember my friend Sincerity to the common Muslim:
The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) teaches us that Islam is a confession from the heart spoken by the tongue, that a true Muslim is one who applies Islamic methods in organizing his personal and social life as well as in his public life.
So, a true Muslim has truthful belief that deserves paradise and Allah's pleasure.

We should have sincere love in out hearts for our Muslim brothers and sisters. We should greet our fellow Muslims with the greeting of “salaam”.

We must feel joy at the prosperity of the Muslims and feel pain and sympathy for them when calamity befalls them.

We must sincerely advise our fellow Muslims about what is best for them in their faith and their worldly lives and teach them

what is right. We must exhort them to what is right and forbid them from what is wrong and do so with the intention that they

should benefit from it.

Sincerity is a topic that is not the only key to Islam

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) says: Deeds of man are mortgaged by his intention and everyone gets what he intends.
If anybody fights for the Cause of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) his reward is with Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)

and if one wages a war for worldly gain his reward remains limited only to this world.

Towards the end of time there will be those who hold fast to the religion of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) while others fall

by the wayside. When disbelief, disobedience and evil will increase, these strangers will remain obedient to Allah and His

religion. They will be granted Paradise and Happiness with a goodly reward in this life and the Hereafter.

And remember my friend Sincerity to the common Muslim:
The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) teaches us that Islam is a confession from the heart spoken by the tongue, that a true Muslim is one who applies Islamic methods in organizing his personal and social life as well as in his public life.

what is right. We must exhort them to what is right and forbid them from what is wrong and do so with the intention that they should benefit from it.

Sincerity is a topic that is not only important to Islam, but it is also a subject that the Kuffar and philosophers have pondered for centuries.

Ibn ul Qayyim Rahmatullahi said, “Deeds without sincerity are like a traveler who carries dirt in his water-jug. The carrying of it

burdens him and it brings no benefit.”

May Allah Ta’aala make us all from those whose deeds are done in accordance with the Sunnah, deeds that are done

sincerely for the sake of Allah? Ibn Masood radiyallaahu anhu would advise his students, “If your intention is one of these

three, do not seek knowledge: To shame the ignorant, to argue with the Fuqaha’, or to cause people to turn their faces in your

direction. Intend with your actions and words that which is with Allah, for indeed that which is with Allah shall remain and

everything else shall perish.”

In conclusion, Ibn ul Qayyim Rahmatullahi said, “Deeds without sincerity are like a traveler who carries dirt in his water-jug.

The carrying of it burdens him and it brings no benefit.”

May Allah Ta’aala make us all from those whose deeds are done in accordance with the Sunnah, deeds that are done

There is no helper but Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)

Before we begin any work, we should `purify' our intention to make that effort for Allah ALONE –
Hence we should question why we are doing whatever we are doing –
Is our Endeavour for some worldly gain, or is it to please Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), the Most High?
Our task is to ensure that our works are for Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) alone, and for no other reason whatsoever.

WHY DO WE START WITH SINCERITY?
(It means warding off lethargy and laziness, and exerting one's effort in making his words goes with his deeds).
Allah the Almighty says: {O you who believe! Why do you say that which you do not do?
Most hateful it is with Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) that you say that which you do not do}. (As-Saff, 2-3)

This is because as Muslims, we know that there are TWO conditions for ANY action to be acceptable to Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), and thus be an action that is rewarded by Him.
These CONDITIONS are that the action MUST be performed:
- Sincerely for Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) alone, on Tawhid:-Islam provides us complete guidance for every aspect of our life.
It solves all sorts of problems facing humanity now and in the future, be it physical, material or economic, socio-cultural, political, legal, religious and spiritual, and the like. Everything it enjoins us to do is for our own benefit. An example of this is the performance of Salat (Islamic prayers) particularly the five compulsory daily prayers. Allah commands us to perform Salat (2:110; 4:103; 20:14) for our own benefits and not because He needs it as He is free of any need. He does not depend on anyone. Allah alone possesses all power. He is the All-Knowing, the Powerful (42:50), the Almighty, the Wise (59:24). When He desires a thing He only says 'Be' and it is (36:82). In other words, nothing is impossible to Him. He is the Cherisher and Sustainer of the Worlds (1:2). All creatures depend on Him (11:6). To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. He creates what He wills (42:49). He enlarges and restricts provisions to whom He wills (49:12). True prayer is due to Him alone (13:14). We have to worship Allah Alone (6:102, 103; 11:1-2) because He commands us to worship Him.

Being sincere to Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) is of paramount importance in Islam.
There are two aspects to this sincerity. The first of these is sincerity in worship.
We must worship Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) alone, offering all of our devotions to him and to no other.
The second is sincerity in our belief. We must have absolute faith that Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) alone is our Creator, our Sustainer, and our Lord.

Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) says: “They were not commanded but that they should worship Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) sincerely and worship none but Him, and that they should perform prayer and pay Zakat.
That is the right religion.” [Surah Al-Bayyinah: 5]

Sincerity to His Book:
Sincerity to Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)’s Book comprises a number of ideas. We must believe in what the Qur’an tells us and doubt nothing that it says.
We must know that the Qur’an is Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)’s word that was revealed to The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam).

Likewise, we must submit to Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)’s commands found within it and guide our lives by its teachings. We must believe that the laws enumerated in the Qur’an are the best of laws that can never be rivaled by man-made laws.
Another aspect of this sincerity is to come to the defense of the Qur’an from those who would aspire to corrupt, abuse, and misinterpret it with their tongues.
Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) has taken the preservation of the Qur’an upon Himself.
However, this does not mean that people will not try to misrepresent it and corrupt how people approach it and understand it.

Sincerity to Allah’s Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam):
We must have unwavering faith that The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) is indeed the Messenger of Allah and that everything that he tells us is true.
We must obey him in all of his commands and prohibitions.
We must know that everything that comes to us by way of the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) comes from Allah, for Allah informs us: “He does not speak of his own accord. It is but revelation that is revealed to him.” [Surah al-Najm: 3-4]

Allah equates obeying the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) to belief when He says: “O you, who believe, obey Allah and obey His Messenger” [Surah al-Nisa’: 59]

Obedience to the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) is obedience to Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD).
Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) says: “Whoever obeys the Messenger has indeed obeyed Allah.” [Surah al-Nisa’: 80]

He also says: “Whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you, abstain from it.” [Surah al-Hashr: 7]

Sincerity to Allah's messenger Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) also includes coming to his defense. During his lifetime, this meant literally defending him and physically standing by his side. Today, it means to defend his honor from those who malign it and his Sunnah from those who would disparage it or corrupt it.

The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said: No slave shows sincerity for forty days except that streams of wisdom begin to flow from his heart to his tongue.

Hadith Qudsi, in which Allah, the Most High, says:
"Indeed I am so self-sufficient that I am in no need of having partners –
Thus, whoever does an action for someone else's sake as well as Mine, will have that action rejected by me, to him whom he associated with me" (Saheeh Muslim)

And Allah says in His Noble Book:
. . . "They were not commanded except with this:
That they should worship Allah, being completely sincere in the Deen" (Qur'an 98:5)

May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) help us to do that which He loves and which pleases Him?
And Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) knows best.
May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) make our efforts sincere and keep us all on the straight path...........

Islam Appeared As Something Strange

Before we begin any work, we should `purify' our intention-Islam

The technical/Islamic definition of Sincerity (`Ikhlas' in Arabic) is:
"The purification & protection of one's SPEECH & ACTION, from every blemish of the soul's desire"
The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) says: Deeds of man are mortgaged by his intention and everyone gets what he intends.
If anybody fights for the Cause of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) his reward is with Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) and if one wages a war for worldly gain his reward remains limited only to this world.

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said: Islam began as something strange and will return as something strange as it began, so give glad tidings to the strangers.
(Who are the strangers)?
Islam appeared as something strange in Makkah where only a few accepted the faith while most showed enmity towards it and rejected The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) whom they harmed along with his Sa’haba (Companions of the Prophet) who embraced Islam. Then it reached Madinah the city that those Companions who had the ability migrated to. It continued to be regarded as something strange until the number of Muslims increased in Madinah and other cities. People then embraced Islam in crowds after Allah made it possible for His Prophet (peace be upon him) to conquer Makkah. Islam was viewed as strange by people at a time when most were heathens associating others with Allah. They worshipped idols, prophets, saints, trees, stones, and the like.

Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) guided whom He pleased through His Messenger the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) and through his Companions. Thus, they entered Islam, worshipped Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) sincerely abandoning their idols, prophets, and saints. They did not offer prayer, prostrate, or call upon anyone except Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD). They only sought assistance or cure from Him (may He be Exalted and Glorified). They did not supplicate or seek help from the dead, idols, trees, stones, planets, Jinn (creatures created from fire), or angels. Instead, they worshipped Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) (May He be Exalted and Glorified) exclusively. Such are the strangers.

Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) loves belief, obedience and goodness.  And Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)    hates disbelief, disobedience and evil.

And whomsoever Allah wills to guide, He opens His breast to Islam, and whomsoever He wills to send astray, He makes his breast closed and constricted, as if he is climbing up to the sky. (Qur’an, 6:125)
“Carry on doing (good) deeds, for everybody will find easy to do such deeds as will lead him to his destined place for which he has been created. So, he who is destined to be among the happy (in the Hereafter), will find it easy to do the deeds characteristic of such people.”
Those who hold fast to the religion of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)
Towards the end of time there will be those who hold fast to the religion of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) while others fall by the wayside. When disbelief, disobedience, and evil will increase, these strangers will remain obedient to Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) and His religion. They will be granted Paradise and Happiness with a goodly reward in this life and the Hereafter.

Suffering has purpose in Islam

O Allah, send peace and blessings upon our The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam), his companions,

Al-Hamdu Lillaahi Rabbil 'Alamin was-Salaatul was-Salamu 'alaa Asra fil Anbiyaa wal Mursaleen.

“There is no helper but Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD),
No guide but (Prophet Muhammad Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) messenger of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), no provision but Taqwa and no work but to have fortitude in these things”

Suffering has purpose in Islam; it tests our faith and corrects our unbelief.
Mohammed (pbuh) said: that for a Muslim the world would be like a jail but for Kafir it would be like a heaven.
One who suffers a lot in earth, that haven’t changed his iman, would enter 'Jannah' easily.
All the sufferings and pains in this world is nothing when compared to the next life.
Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) will test every human being with good health, richness, royalty, deadly diseases, poverty, etc.
Keep it in mind this world is only the Examination hall. You have to prepare well in order to pass the examination.
Failing which may result in an 'Ahzab' which will be endless.

People who don’t believe: a non-believer who can enjoy only this life. They think that their money and everything is enough to make them happy.
They don’t know the truth. We are not like others. Don’t worry brother; the holy light from Allah is near you.
The problem is you can't see it. Live the life of The Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam
Suffering tests belief; a true Muslim will remain faithful through the trials of life.
But suffering also reveals the hidden self to Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD).
Suffering is built into the fabric of existence so that Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) may see who is truly righteous.
In other words, Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) not only allows the various agonies and struggles of life, but has a purpose for them.
Suffering opens up the soul and reveals it to Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD).
Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) uses suffering to look within humans and test their characters, and correct the unbelievers.

Suffering is also a painful result of sin.  In Islam, sin is associated with unbelief.
Muslims surrender to Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)’s will, and find peace in that surrender.
Sometimes people forget to listen to the prophets, and fail to serve Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) in all that they do.

"The Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam said, 'Prayers will be neglected, carnal desires will be pursued, transgressors will become leaders,
It will not be possible to distinguish the faithful from the false, telling lies will become desirable,
Payment of Zakat will be taken as a burden, the believer will be deemed the most disgraceful and he will be pained at seeing evils all around
And his heart will melt as salt in water but he will not be able to say anything. Rain will do no good; it will fall out of season.
Males will commit adultery with males, and females with females. Women will dominate.
The offspring will disobey their parents, friend will treat his friend badly, and sins will be taken lightly.
Mosques will have external decorations and beauty and there will be worshippers too but there will be hypocrisy and mutual enmity in their hearts.
Then will appear a people from the West who will dominate the weak among my people.
People will produce copies of the Holy Quran in letters of gold but will not act upon it.
The Quran will be recited in a melodious way.
Usury will become rampant.
Human blood will have no value, religion will have no helpers.
Singing women will be on the increase.
The rich will perform the Hajj as a pastime; the people of the middle class will do so to conduct business and the poor to beg for charity."

Final two verses from Surah Baqarah and learn from it duas:
The messenger believeth in that which hath been revealed unto him from his Lord and (so do) believers.
Each one believeth in Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) and His angels and His scriptures and His messengers -
We make no distinction between any of His messengers - and they say:
We hear, and we obey. (Grant us) Thy forgiveness our Lord. Unto Thee is the journeying. (285) Allah tasketh not a soul beyond its scope.
For it (is only) that which it hath earned, and against it (only) that which it hath deserved.
Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget, or miss the mark! Our Lord! Lay not on us such a burden as thou didst lay on those before us!
Our Lord! Impose not on us that which we have not the strength to bear! Pardon us, absolve us and have mercy on us,
Thou, our Protector, and give us victory over the disbelieving folk. (286)

Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) doesn’t grant a hardship on a person which he can't bear!!! So what’s happening with you is just bearable for you while it’s not for few. Got what it means!! So recite this verse when you feel bad about a problem in your life .When Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) becomes His servant’s Helper. Muslim, Book 35, Kitab Zikr Hadith # 6518

 Muslim: Book 35: Hadith 6518
Abu Huraira Radiyallaahu anhu reported Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)’s Messenger the Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam as saying:
He who alleviates the suffering of a brother out of the sufferings of the world, Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) would alleviate his suffering from the sufferings of the Day of Resurrection,
And he who finds relief for one who is hard pressed, Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) would make things easy for him in the Hereafter,
And he who conceals (the faults) of a Muslim, Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) would conceal his faults in the world and in the Hereafter.
Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) is at the back of a servant so long as the servant is at the back of his brother,
And he who treads the path in search of knowledge, Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) would make that path easy, leading to Paradise for him
And those persons who assemble in the house among the houses of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) (mosques)
And recite the Book of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) and they learn and teach the Qur'an (among them) there would descend upon them the tranquility
And mercy would cover them and the angels would surround them and Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) makes a mention of them in the presence of those near Him,
And he who is slow-paced in doing good deeds, his (high) descent does not make him go ahead

 Lessons learned from Hadith
        Rights of Muslims:
        1- To remove a Muslim’s suffering
2- To be lenient with poor and needy
        3-To cover someone’s faults

Superiority of seeking knowledge: Allah, the Exalted, says:

"And say: `My Rubb! Increase me in knowledge.'' (20:114)

"Are those who know equal to those who know not?''' (39:9)

"Allah will exalt in degree those of you who believe, and those who have been granted knowledge.'' (58:11)

"It is only those who have knowledge among His slaves that fear Allah.'' (35:28)
Ibn Mas’ud (Radiyallaahu anhu) reported:  The Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam said,
"Envy is permitted only in two cases: A man whom Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)  gives wealth, and he disposes of it rightfully, and a man to whom Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) gives knowledge which he applies and teaches it.''
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

It stresses the importance of acquiring knowledge of the Qur'an and Hadith and imparting it to others.
No matter whether one has more or less knowledge, he must communicate it to others.
There is no justification to presume that preaching or inviting to the Message of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) is the duty of religious scholars and those who are well-versed in this sphere.
In fact, it is a duty upon every Muslim, so much so that if a person knows even a single Verse of the Qur'an, that is to say if he knows only one injunction of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) , he is duty bound to communicate it to other people.

      Sincere actions are ultimately valued:

Yaqoob al-Makfoof: The sincere person is the one who hides his good deeds just like he hides his evil deeds.

It was said to Sahl: What is the hardest thing upon the soul? He said: Ikhlas, when there is no other desire in it.

As-Souse said: What Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) intends/wants from the actions of the creations is Ikhlas and nothing else.

Abu Uthman said: It is forgetting the sight of the creation by continual observance of the Creator

Ibrahim bin Adam said: He has not been truthful to Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) who loved fame (and recognition).

Sahl ibn Abdullah said: There is nothing tougher/harder upon the soul than Ikhlas.
How many times have I tried to extinguish riya from my heart and it is as if it has appeared in a different colour (i.e. a different form).
This Ikhlas has been commanded by Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) and He has made it binding upon the whole of mankind.
He said:
And they were not commanded except that they should worship Allah and worship none but Him, offer prayers perfectly and give Zakat and that is the correct religion.
Also:
Say: Verily I have been commanded to worship Allah making the deen exclusively and sincerely for Him (alone).
And also:
He is al-Hayyu (Ever-Living) there is none worthy of worship except He, therefore call upon Him being making the deen exclusively and sincerely for Him (alone)
Ikhlas is that ones speech/action/emotions/feelings are free from all impurities and desires of the soul.
Such impurities and blemishes could be i.e.:
Desiring praise - 'he is a scholar', 'he is a doer of good', 'he is a skilled reciters',
'he is brave' and other such things. Attracting attention to one to achieve one's goals and objectives fulfillments of ones personal needs running away from rebuke and criticism showing off seeking worldly gains
Remove your brother’s suffering Physical- like hunger, sickness, no place to live, no education, no freedom, physical or mental abuse etc.
Spiritual- like going astray, suffering with anxiety and depression
Monetary- like burden of excessive loan, unemployment
Ethical- threat to honor and integrity

 Leniency with poor and needy:
          Food and the needy
Have you seen him who belies the rewards and punishments of the Hereafter? He it is who drives away the orphan and does not urge giving away the food of the poor. (107:1 - 3)

Give to the near of kin his due, and also to the needy and the wayfarers. Do not squander your wealth wastefully; for those who squander wastefully are Satan's brothers, and Satan is ever ungrateful to his Lord. (17:26 - 27)

Those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)
And do not follow up their spending by stressing their benevolence and causing hurt, will find their reward secure with their Lord.
They have no cause for fear and grief.
To speak a kind word and to forgive people's faults is better than charity followed by hurt. Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) is All-Sufficient, All-Forbearing
Believers! Do not nullify your acts of charity by stressing your benevolence and causing hurt as does he who spends his wealth only to be seen by men and does          not believe in Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) and the Last Day.
The example of his spending is that of a rock with a thin coating of earth upon it: when a heavy rain smites it, the earth is washed away, leaving the rock bare; such people derive no gain from their acts of charity.
Allah does not set the deniers of the Truth on the right way. (2:262 - 264)

If the debtor is in a difficulty, grant him time Till it is easy for him to repay.
But if ye remit it by way of charity, that is best for you if ye only knew.
And fear the Day when ye shall be brought back to Allah. Then shall every soul be paid what it earned, and none shall be dealt with unjustly.
        Al-Qur'an, 002.280-281 (Al-Baqara)

Whosoever wishes that Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) may save him from the hardships of the Day of Judgment, then he should give time to the indebted one or forgive him.
A trader used to give loans. When he saw that the indebted could not pay the loan, he used to tell his employees to forgive him.
He hoped that Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) shall forgive him. Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) forgave him.

Abu Yasar (Radiyallaahu anhu) reported that The Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam said, “Whosoever wishes to find a place in the shade of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) on the Day of Judgment, he should give time to the poor indebted or forgive him.
To cover a Muslim brother’s shortcomings

Uqbah bin Amir Radiyallaahu anhu reported that The Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam said, “Whoever sees a fault in his Muslim brother/ sister and he keeps it hidden he is like one who saved a live of a buried girl.”

Abu Sa’eed Khudri Radiyallaahu anhu reported that the Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam said, “Whoever gives dress to a Muslim brother/sister when he was uncovered, Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) shall grant him dress from Jannah.”

Umar Radiyallaahu anhu reported: that The Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam was asked that what the best action is. He replied,
” To bring happiness to your Muslim brother brings great reward. If he is hungry then feed him.
If he does not have dress, then clothe him. If he is needy then fulfill his need.”
Individual who deserves the Help of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)
Islam has not differentiated in the service of mankind between Muslims and non Muslims.
As long as a Muslim is helping others in providing them food, clothes, shelters and shows leniency to the indebted ones, Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) shall Help such servant.

Seeking Knowledge
Whoever travels to seek knowledge, he is in the path of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) till he returns.
Whoever seeks knowledge, it becomes expiation (Kaffarah) for his previous sins.
Whoever travels a way to seek knowledge, Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) shall make his way to Jannah easy. Angels spread their wings for him.
All the creatures of heavens and earth make dua Maghfirah for him. Alim has superiority over worshiper like the moon is over the stars.
Alims are the heirs of The Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam. They do not leave money, rather they leave knowledge. Whoever gets part of this knowledge, he gets great portion. (Ibn Majah)

Whoever achieves Ilm (which is done to seek pleasure of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) to achieve material benefits, he will not find the perfume of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) (Abu Dawood)
Whoever achieves knowledge to debate with fools or boast amongst scholars or attract people’s attention towards him, then his place is in hellfire. (Ibn Majah)

If someone is asked about something (and he knows it) but he hides it, then Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) shall put the rope of fire in his mouth.” (Abu Dawood)
The Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam always made this dua,” O Allah! Make my Ilm profitable for me, give me knowledge which is profitable and add in my knowledge.” (Tirmidhi)
“O Allah! I seek your refuge from useless knowledge.” (Muslim)
    Rewards for collective study
There would descend upon them the tranquility and mercy would cover them and the angels would surround them.
Allah makes a mention of them in the presence of those near Him.

Do not despair if it appears your du’aa is not answered.
Continue to have faith and patience and be content with what Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) has written for you.
Remember that this world is a place of testing and the real goal in Jannah.
May Allah grant you the highest station of Jannah al-Firdous, Ameen?

May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) help us to do that which He loves and which pleases Him?
And Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) knows best.

Make Dua and Expect it to be Answered

O Allah, send peace and blessings upon our The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam), his companions,
And his family and all those who follow them in righteousness till the Day of Reckoning. Ameen

The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) is closer to the Believers than their own blood relations

Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) says: “And when my slaves ask you (O Muhammad) concerning Me, then (answer them) I am indeed near.
I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me.
So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright.” (2: 186)

And He, in His infinite Mercy, also says: “Who else is there that responds to the call of the one in distress when he calls out, and He removes evil from him? ...Is there any other God besides Allah? Little is it that you remember!” (27:62)

With such statements from Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) in the Quran why is it then that people think that their dua has not been heard?
Why do people become angry and frustrated that nothing seems to be happening, after they have made dua countless times?
Why do people find themselves losing hope and faith in their Creator (Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)?
Know Muslim brothers and sisters, that every supplication, even if it be small, will reach Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD).
One should not consider it improper to make dua for things they may consider to be insignificant, because by Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), even such things which are significant, great and valuable to us are insignificant in His Gaze.
We tend to think that our dua is accepted if we receive exactly what we ask for and when we do not receive what we asked for we feel like our dua has been rejected.
In reality, there are various ways in which our dua can be considered “accepted”.

The Prophet Muhammad  (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam)said: “Any Muslim who makes a supplication containing nothing that is sinful and nothing that involves breaking ties of blood relationships, will be given for it by Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD one of these three things:
He may accept his request, or assign its reward for him in the next world, or turn away from him an equivalent amount of evil.”
What we need to keep in mind however, is that Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD does not answer dua in some circumstances:
About the issue of Dua’s being accepted, the following two sayings by The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) are also very noteworthy:

The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) heard a man making dua after his prayer, but he did not send blessings upon The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam).
The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said: “This man is in a hurry.” Then he called him and said to him or to someone else:
“When any one of you has finished praying (and makes dua), let him start by praising Allah, then let him send blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam), then after that let him ask for whatever he wants.

The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said: “The slave will receive a response so long as his dua does not involve sin or severing of family ties, and so long as he is not hasty.
” It was said, “What does being hasty mean?” He said: “When he says, ‘I made dua and I made dua, and I have not seen any response,’ and he gets frustrated and stops making dua.” Narrated by al-Bukhari, 6340; Muslim, 2735.

Praying to other than Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD):

Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) said: “And the places of worship are for Allah (alone): So invoke not anyone along with Allah (72:18). He (SWT) also says, “So invoke not with Allah another god lest you should be among those who receive punishment.” (26:213)
    Hastiness in Dua:

Subhanallah! We make dua and expect it to be answered the next morning, at the latest. We should be patient when making dua to be answered. The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said: “Your supplication will be answered if you are not impatient, and if you do not say, ‘I supplicated but my supplication was not heard.’” (Malik)

The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said: “The supplication of a slave continues to be granted as long as he does not supplicate for a sinful thing or for something that would cut off the ties of kinship and he does not grow impatient.” It was said: “O Messenger of Allah! What does growing impatient mean?”
He (The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam)) said, “It is one's saying: ‘I supplicated again and again but I do not think that my prayer will be answered.’ Then he becomes frustrated (in such circumstances) and gives up supplication altogether.”

This shows that Dua should be continuous, and that we should avoid giving up our Dua because it has not been responded to at a time that we see fit. For Allah (SWT) is The Wise and we know that no Dua is ever wasted! This does not mean however, that we cannot pray that our Dua be answered quickly, for it has been narrated that The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) prayed for rain and said "quickly, and not delayed." (Ibn Majah)

Supplication involving cutting of the ties of kinship:

       Impurity of one’s sustenance:

Allah (SWT) said: “O you who believe! Eat of the good things that We have provided for you…” (2:172). It is important that one’s income be lawful and free from interest as the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam)) said, “Make wholesome your earning, Allah will accept your Dua.” The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) made mention of a person who travels widely, his hair disheveled, and covered with dust. “He lifts his hands and makes supplication, ‘O Lord, O Lord,’ but his diet is unlawful, his drink is unlawful, and his clothes are unlawful, and his nourishment is unlawful. How then can his supplication be accepted?” (Muslim and Ahmad)
Not being assertive on what he asks for:

Abu Hurairah reported that The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam), said, “None of you should say, ‘O Allah, forgive me if you wish, (or) O Allah; have mercy on me if you wish.’ Rather you should be firm in your request, for (Allah does whatever He wishes) and no one can force Him to do otherwise.”
Neither enjoins good nor forbids evil:

The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said, “By Him in Whose Hand my life is, you either enjoin good and forbid evil, or Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) will certainly soon send His punishment to you.
Then you will make supplication and it will not be accepted.”

Not praying with humility and submissiveness:

Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) said: “So call you upon (or invoke) Allah with sincere devotion to Him (Alone)…” (40:14) The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said, “Make dua to Allah in a state that you are certain that your dua will be responded to, and know that Allah does not respond to a dua that originates from a negligent, inattentive heart”
It is the one who prays with no humility and submissiveness, whose heart is negligent and inattentive.
Striving actively to change one first:

Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) said: “…Verily, Allah will not change the (good) conditions of a people as long as they do not change their state (of goodness) themselves (by committing sins and by being ungrateful and disobedient to Allah)” (13:11)
So the next time you think that your dua hasn’t been answered and you want to give up think again and keep trying because Allah is always near.

“And Your Lord said: Call on Me, I will answer you” (40:60)

Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) DOES answer our du’aa, but not always in the way we are expecting.
First of all, NONE of us "does everything right".
We all fall short so perhaps you should honestly reevaluate yourself to see where you can improve -
I advise myself before I advise you because I know I have areas where I can improve.
So, let's say you are basically mash’Allah a really good Muslim and you are doing your duty to Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) and your family, etc.
When you make a du’aa, Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) may answer your du’aa immediately, or He may delay answering your du’aa in order to help you learn patience, so do not despair.
Also, what you are asking for may not be actually good for you in this world or the Hereafter, so Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) may not grant you what you are asking for, but will substitute something better instead.
For instance, what about a student who makes du’aa to go to a certain university?
She doesn't get in, but the school she goes to turns out to be much better for her.
And she is very successful due to the schooling and contacts she would not have made had her initial du’aa been answered.
Also, Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) may take away some sins for you instead of giving what you asked for in du’aa, thus averting punishment in this world or the next.
Or, He may be storing up your rewards for you in Jannah, rather than giving them to you in this world. This is what we see with many good people who live what we would call miserable lives. They believe in Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) and are tested in this world, but they will have the highest stage in Jannah for their faith and endurance.

       Best times for Dua:
       1. The Last Third of the Night
Abu Hurairah (Radiyallaahu) anhu) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam)) said: 'in the last third of every night our Rabb (Cherisher and Sustainer) (Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) descends to the lowermost heaven and says; "Who is calling Me, so that I may answer him? Who is asking Me so that may I grant him? Who is seeking forgiveness from Me so that I may forgive him?"' [Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith Qudsi]

Amr ibn Abash narrated that The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said: 'The closest any worshipper can be to His Lord is during the last part of the night, so if you can be amongst those who remember Allah at that time, then do so.
2. Late at night
When people are sleeping and busy with worldly pleasures Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) gives the believers an opportunity, or an answer hour if they can fight sleep and invoke Allah (SWT) for whatever they need. The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said: 'There is at night an hour, no Muslim happens to be asking Allah any matter of this world or the Hereafter, except that he will be given it, and this (occurs) every night.'
[Muslim No. 757]

3. between Adhan and Iqamah
Anas (Radiyallaahu anhu) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said: 'A supplication made between the Adhan and Iqamah is not rejected.'
[Ahmad,

4. An Hour on Friday
Narrated Abu Hurairah ((Radiyallaahu anhu): Allah’s Messenger (The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) talked about Friday and said: 'There is an hour on Friday and if a Muslim gets it while offering Salat (prayer) and asks something from Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), then Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)) will definitely meet his demand.' And he (The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam)) pointed out the shortness of that particular time with his hands.[Sahih al-Bukhari]

Some have said that this hour is from the time the Imam (prayer’s leader) enters the mosque on Friday’s prayer until the prayer is over (i.e. between the two khutba), whereas others have said that it is the last hour of the day (i.e. after the ASR prayer until the Maghrib prayer).

5. While Drinking Zamzam Water
Jabber (Radiyallaahu anhu narrated that Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)’s Messenger (The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam)) said: 'Zamzam water is for what it is drunk for.' [Ahmad 3: 357]. This means that when you drink Zamzam water you may ask Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) for anything you like to gain or benefit from this water such as healing from illness.... etc.

6. While Prostrating
Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam), said: 'the nearest a slave can be to his Lord is when he is prostrating, so invoke (supplicate) Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) much in it. [Muslim,]

When a Muslim is in his Salat (prayer) he is facing Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) and when he prostrates he is the nearest he can be to Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) so it is best to invoke Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) at this time. It is said that while in prostration, one should not ask for worldly needs (i.e. a nice car, a new job, etc), but for the Hereafter.

7. When Waking Up at Night
Narrated Ubaydah Bin as-Samit that Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)’s Messenger (The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said: 'Whoever wakes up at night and says La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la shrika lahu lahul-mulku, WA Lahul hamdu, WA huwa ala kulli shai'in Qadir. Alhamdu lillaahi, wa Subhaanallahi wa la ilaha illallahu, wallaahu Akbar, wa la hawla Wala quwwata illaa billah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) He is the only one who has no partners.
His is the kingdom and all the praises are for Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD).
All the glories are for Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) and none has the right to be worshipped but Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)
And Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) is the most Great and there is neither might nor power except with Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) and then says Allahumma Ghâfir li (O Allah! Forgive me) or invokes Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), he will be responded to and if he makes ablution and performs Salat (prayer), his Salat (prayer) will be accepted. [Sahih al-Bukhari]

8. at the End of the Obligatory Salat:
Narrated Abu Omama (Radiyallaahu anhu: that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) was asked, O Messenger of Allah, which supplication is heard (by Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), he said the end of the night and at the end of the obligatory Salat (prayer) [at-Tirmidhi]. This time is after saying 'At-Tahiyyat’, and before making Taslim (finishing prayer)

9. The Night of 'Qadr' (Decree)
This night is the greatest night of the year. This is the night which the almighty Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) said about it, "The night of Al-Qadar (Decree) is better than a thousand months." [Surah al-Qadr, 97: 3]

The Night of Decree is one of the odd nights of the last ten nights of the blessed month of Ramadan. The angels descend down to the earth, and the earth is overwhelmed with peace and serenity until the break of dawn and when he doors of Paradise are opened, the worshipper is encouraged to turn to Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) to ask for his needs for this world and the Hereafter.

10. during the Rain
Narrated Saheel Ibn Sa'ad (Radiyallaahu anhu) : that the Messenger of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) (SAW) said: 'Two will not be rejected, Supplication when the Adhan (call of prayer) is being called, and at the time of the rain'. [Ibn Majah]

'Seek the response to your Dua’s when the armies meet, and the prayer is called, and when rain falls' [reported by Imam al-Shafi' in al-Umm, al-Sahih No. 1469]. The time of the rain is a time of mercy from Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) so; one should take advantage of this time when Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) is having mercy on His slaves.

11. at the Adhan
'Seek the response to your Dua’s when the armies meet, and the prayer is called, and when rain falls' [reported by Imam al-Shafi' in al-Umm, al-Sahih No. 1469]

12. The One Who Is Suffering Injustice and Oppressions
The Messenger of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said to Mua'ad Ibn Jabal (Radiyallaahu anhu, 'Beware of the supplication of the unjustly treated, because there is no shelter or veil between it (the supplication of the one who is suffering injustice) and Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)' [Sahih Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) declared, 'three men whose dua is never rejected (by Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) are: the fasting person until he breaks his fast (in another narration, when he breaks fast), the just ruler and the one who is oppressed.'[Ahmad]

In another hadith; The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) declared: 'three Dua’s are surely answered: The du’aa of the oppressed, the du’aa of the traveler, and the du’aa of the father/mother (upon their child)'.
The One who is suffering injustice is heard by Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) when he invokes Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) to retain his rights from the unjust one or oppressor. Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) has sworn to help the one who is suffering from injustice sooner or later as The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said.

146. 'U'eethukumaa bikalimaatil-laahit-taammati min kulli shaytaanin wa haammatin, wa min kulli 'aynin laammatin.
I seek protection for you in the Perfect Words of Allah from every devil and every beast, and from every envious blameworthy eye. - . [Sahih al-Bukhari]

May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) make our efforts sincere and keep us all on the straight path...........
