High self-esteem comes with great responsibility to a Muslim

Inner voice

A Mo-min is more steadfast than a mountain because something can be taken out of a mountain but nothing can be confiscated from a Mo-min.

Not respecting oneself, is the same as committing suicide at a slow rate.
Self-respect can be an extension of your ego or a priceless virtue.
Remember, self-respect comes from an inner belief and not an egoistic feeling of superiority.
Self-respect is a fundamental for a great life. If we lack self-respect we will be insecure and strive to be someone we are not. To develop self-respect means to cultivate the self confidence to deal with whatever life throws at us.
One self-help site suggests that “you treat your self-respect like a pet. It is very easy to care for. Be sure to give it daily attention and it will grow big and strong.” Now, one might ask, “What’s wrong with respecting me? If I can’t express honor and admiration for myself, how can I show proper respect for other individuals?”

Clearly, from a religious perspective, self-esteem is invaluable.

But how do we distinguish between self-worth and arrogance (self-esteem, arrogance and pride).
Self-esteem is a realistic respect for or favorable impression of oneself, or simply self respect.
Having a high self-esteem comes with great responsibility as a Muslim trying to live up to Islamic morals and attain high Islamic characteristics and behaviors.

Self-esteem is misunderstood as how one feels about him/herself based on their personal achievements, their beauty, their social status and the like, rather than basing it on how their thoughts and actions towards themselves and others are associated to making them feel good about themselves.

It is narrated that Abu Dharr Radiyallaahu anhu once asked the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam whether it was arrogant for him to want nice things for himself, such as a well-constructed handle for his cane or a beautiful lace for his sandal.
The Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam replied that this was not arrogance, but, rather, arrogance is when we consider our honor to be worthier than other people’s honor, or our blood to be worthier than other people’s blood.
He also cautioned that anyone with even a speck of arrogance in their heart would not enter Paradise without repenting first.
But despite these dire warnings, people often assume they are more entitled to the blessings of May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) – whether due to culture, nationality, language, wealth, social class, ancestry, profession, or educational level. Not only is such a way of thinking a grave sin, but it is also a false basis for self-worth.
Those who value themselves primarily on the basis of external factors – such as wealth – lack true self-worth since true self-worth must come from within.

There is a difference between high self-esteem, arrogance and pride.

Arrogance is a negative trait in which one thinks highly of oneself, compares oneself with others and believes he is better than others.  Arrogance is a false sense of self-worth.  It is when you think you are better than others based on what societies standards, – ‘I am wealthy so I am better than you’ or smarter, taller, prettier, etc.  There is a discrepancy between who they are and who they perceive themselves to be.  A truly grounded or healthy person has no need to be arrogant.

Pride can be both negative and positive; negative pride is the same as arrogance. Positive pride, on the other hand implies a sense of responsibility toward everything that you aim at doing that you try your best in whatever you does.  Taking pride in something is about trying to excel in what you do, to improve yourself, to make whatever you do better, to do your best; and to feel good when you have achieved that goal; in this sense it is similar to the concept of ihsan in Islamic terms.

Self-esteem can be negative (low/unhealthy) or positive (high/healthy); at the positive end of the spectrum it is a sense of feeling at peace with yourself when you have done the right thing in the best possible manner; when you have lived up to your expectations and according to your high values.  There is no discrepancy between who you are and who you believe to be.

However, at the negative/low end of the spectrum it manifests itself in two ways… either as a sense of worthlessness or the flip side of it, as arrogance.

High self-esteem is can be characterized by you being: tolerant, patient, respectful, responsible, honest, seeking to improve whatever you do (ihsan), self-motivated, willing to take risks, loving and lovable, kind, generous, helpful to others, and takes responsibility and control of their lives.

Low self-esteem can be characterized by behaviors that exhibit insecurity, victim mentality, weakness, lack of confidence and self-absorption; since worth is believed to be An external quality that comes to one if one possesses something, e.g. wealth, education, etc.  Low self-esteem is due to a discrepancy between the guiding self-ideal (How I would like to be) and the perceived self (how I am).  And it is to cover up the discrepancy that one acts arrogantly.

Losing worldly things can be particularly challenging for a person with low self-worth since it forces us to face our selves.

While some people are comfortable with their selves, others do whatever they can to avoid them – turning to television, music, intoxicants, or other distractions.

The self can be a source of pain, especially if someone suffers from self-hatred or is experiencing loss or grief.

Nevertheless, sometimes – for instance, during an illness – we are left with nothing but our selves and May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD).

If that does not happen to us in this world, it will definitely happen to us in the grave.

If we have a difficult relationship with our selves, those moments can be tortuous.

But if we have a peaceful relationship with our selves, these too can be times of calm; one is reminded of the stories of prophets,

Such as Prophet Ayyub (A.S), who lost everything but continued to praise and thank May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD).

In fact, sometimes being forced to abandon distractions can be a blessing in disguise since we are then forced to improve our relationship with our most constant companion, the self.

Of course, most of us pray we do not go through such times of trial.

How else can we work on improving low self-worth without going through calamity?

It is often helpful to pay attention to our “inner voice”.

Everyone has an inner voice (which, in the Islamic tradition, is referred to as the nafs al-lawwaama or critical self).

Frequently, our inner voice gives us good advice.

“Get up or you’ll be late! Do your house/garden/ homework! Do your Salat!”

This advice is helpful because it is based on reality.

If we don’t get up on time, we will be late.

However, sometimes this voice gets confused and, instead, mimics negative – and, most importantly, untrue – messages we may have heard sometime in our lives.

Instead of telling us useful things, it tells us how worthless or shameful we are. If we fail an exam, it might say:,

“Of course you failed; you’re too stupid to do anything” (a negative message)

Instead of “Next time you need to study harder and go to a tutor” (a positive message and don't forget to ask May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD).

Ibn Mas’ud Radiyallaahu anhu relates that the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam said,

“If anyone is in need and asks people to meet it, he will not be permanently relieved of his trouble.

But if he asks May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) for help, he will soon be relieved or he will meet his death if the appointed time is at hand or

May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) will give him prosperity some time later.”).

Islam has blessed man with human dignity and self-respect by telling him to ask for anything he needs only from Allah the Exalted.

The hadith under study also encourages man to present all his needs and troubles to May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) alone, for only He is the Reliever of those
Who are in trouble and Provider of all their needs?

The supplication of Prophet Moses A.S. as recorded in the Holy Qur'an (28:24): “O my Lord! Truly am I in (desperate) need of any good that Thou dost send me.” –
-Continues to be a true guide for the believers till the Last Day. The Qur'an also mentions that May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) did give him good support.

One who looks to others for relief, in fact, loses his dignity and self-respect, and as such can get but only some temporary relief.

He will continue to beg all his life from the people who are not so large-hearted as to meet his needs or so generous as to relieve him from the indignity of begging.

So his self-respect will certainly get injured. And when he has no self-respect, why should May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) save him from indignity. But if he turns to May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) at the time of need, he will soon be relieved.

The Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam) said,

“I swear about three things, no wealth is reduced on account of charity, that if anyone is wronged and he bears it patiently then May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) will add to his self-respect and thirdly that if one becomes used to begging, May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) opens the door of poverty on him.”

Despite what the voice may say, no one is intrinsically stupid or ugly or unlovable.

Hence, a malfunctioning inner voice needs to be reprogrammed to provide positive and useful messages.

One useful tool for this in the ethical toolbox is muhasabah, or daily self-reflection.

In addition to reflecting on our deeds, we can also reflect on our inner voice – was it giving us positive advice? Or was it dragging us down?

If so, how can we guide it to saying more useful things the next day? Bit by bit, the voice can be retrained.

Positively contribute to your community. This involves helping others whenever and wherever possible and also positively contributing by being kind, compassionate and

-Generous – to you as well. Be selfless and expect nothing in return. Help an elderly person with their grocery bags; hold the door open for a stranger, volunteer for non-

-profit organizations, recognize opportunities to assist and offer your services. Proactively focusing on your own personal self growth is also a positive contribution to

-Society – personal development leads to greater self awareness which ultimately helps you connect and help with other people and when we focus on helping other -people, our personal problems melt away in comparison to the collective needs of our world and it feels good to know we are making a positive difference.

The reality is that loving your neighbor as you begins with you. You must love and value yourself if you are to love others.

You have to respect yourself and acknowledge your own self-worth. You must take care of yourself so that you can love and help your neighbor.

Suppose that you are the only adult caring for a group of young children. You raise all your food and only have a small amount. At mealtime, in an effort to take good care

-of the children, you give them most of the food and you eat very little. Over time you become weaker and weaker, but you keep feeding the children the same amount.

Eventually when you are too weak to work, who will feed the children? No one! Now all will perish because you neglected yourself. What should you do? You should eat –

-The same as or perhaps more than the children to keep your strength up and ensure that you can continue to care for them. Don’t neglect others by neglecting yourself.

Love yourself and then you can love your neighbor. Don’t lose your self-worth. Each day make sure that you take care of yourself so that you will be able to take care of your neighbor.
Does this make you selfish? No. It makes you responsible.

Islam imposes strict discipline of good behavior and conduct on its followers.

The maintenance of one's dignity and self respect is an important quality in a man.

It is required on every turn and aspect of life; without it a feeling of inferiority exists, no one pays attention to what such a man says nor do they respect a man who does

Not know to respect him. Islam expects a man to present the highest example of good morality and manners. As long as Muslims maintained firm faith and discipline,

They did not lose their sense of self respect.

Self respect is different from vanity. It is the name given to the quality through which a man learns to respect himself so that he does not stoop to anything low. When a

Self respecting man comes across evil, he passes by untouched. The evil ones do not have enough courage to even touch him.

Dignified and good behavior is the essence of one's morality, faith and self respect.

Beggary is strongly condemned in Islam as this is a negation of self respect.

Even asking for help in the daily matters is not allowed, until necessary.

The sense of self-worth which emerges from faith transcends individual value since, rather than coming from the human, it comes from the Divine.

By focusing inward, each and every human being can connect with the inner source of peace, happiness, comfort, care, hope, and light that characterizes our link with Allah.

Despite whatever physical or emotional pain we may be feeling, this “eye of the storm” reminds us that we matter to May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD).

Even if no one else seems to care about us, He does, and experiencing His love towards us teaches us to value ourselves. Ultimately, faith and dignity are strongly linked – for instance, it is narrated that the believer would suffer everything except indignity – and so true faith can bring the deepest sense of self-worth.

Anyone can work on their inner voice – regardless of their level of faith. However, faith adds an entirely new dimension to our sense of self-worth.

Simply existing should be enough for us to acknowledge our inherent worth.
Despite modern advances in technology, we still cannot control life and death, as any childless couple who wants children knows.

We exist because Allah willed for us to exist, and we have a purpose in life because He does not create aimlessly. As his representative (Khalifa) on earth who has accepted His trust (Amana), we hold an esteemed position.

In fact, self-worth is generally linked to control over one’s desires; as is narrated from Imam Ali Radiyallaahu anhu: “When someone maintains his own respect in his own view, his desires appear light to him

The basic elements of good behavior are included in Islamic teachings: Behave with modesty, politeness, courtesy; don't insult others, don't back-bite, don't hurl abuses, don't be arrogant or proud, don't cheat etc.

Good behavior is highly recommended in the Islam religion Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam: ''Good behavior is a virtue.''

When asked for which qualities will more people be placed in heaven, he answered: ''Fear of God and good behavior’’?

Good behavior is referred to as Akhlaq-e-Hamida in Islam.

- It is narrated from Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam: One who has three characters has attained all the qualities of Faith: when he is happy, his happiness does not attract him toward untruth; in time of anger, his anger does not drive him out of the truth; and when he gets power, he does not exceed his limits.

One tip to boost self esteem: look down. Society wants you to crave more, to look at people who have more of the dunya than you and to chase their life. Instead, we should look at those who have less of the dunya, those who don't have the blessings and abilities that we have. Be grateful for what Allah has given you and use it in His way.

May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) has created much in our world that we have to be thankful for and much that soothes our senses, whether it is the beauty of the open sky, the vast the ocean, the light of the harvest moon, the small hands and feet of a newborn baby or the reflection of love or friendship in the eyes of another human being.
All this and more are not created by us but by May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) and they are evidence that He is there and is Magnificent.
The beauty that May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) created is humbling and empowering for us at the same time. It is empowering because it is a reminder to us of his Greatness, as he is our Protector and humbling because it also reminds us of our duty that we must do our best as caliphs on earth to protect his Creation and respect and to help one another

Excellence of the Month of Ramadan

Month of Ramadan
Islam combines Love, Hope and Fear. Forgive ness. . Mash ‘Allah what a beautiful religion

3:194] Our Lord, forgive us our errors and remove from us our evils, and in death number us with the righteous.
Our Lord, forgive us our errors and remove from us our evils, and in death number us with the righteous.

Hope you're all doing good and benefiting from this month as much as possible and high in Iman InshaAllah.

Ramadan: The Month of Allah SWT (God)
Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his progeny) said: Sha`ban is my month and the month of Ramadan is the month of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), The Exalted, and it is the springtime for the poor.

Excellence of the Month of Ramadan
Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his progeny) said: O' People! Surely, the month of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), has approached you.
The month: which in the eyes of Allah is the most virtuous of the months? Its days are the best of the days and its nights, the best of the nights and its moments, the best of the moments.
Islam combines Love, Hope and Fear.
Forgiveness

'When Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), completed the creation, He wrote in His Book which is with Him on His Throne, 'My Mercy overpowers My Anger.'

Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) has prescribed a life time to each individual on this earth.
The differentiation between rights and wrongs has been clearly indicated.
We have been given the discretion to judge between virtues and vices and based on that each soul is accountable for their worldly deeds.
Whether it is as insignificant as squatting dead a fly or removing an obstacle from the road while traveling, each act will be brought to justice.
Therefore, a believer must constantly seek pardon for those actions which may displease the Almighty.
A believer only does what pleases Allah and the purpose is to seek divine nearness through constant repentance,
Be it through silent conversations with Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), or by shedding tears of guilt.

If Shaitan puts ‘waswasa’ in your heart and instigates you to oppose Allah, don’t forget to ask for Allah’s forgiveness.
Immediately ask for Allah’s forgiveness.
Repentance destroys sins. Remember, ‘Tauba’ does not mean asking for Allah’s forgiveness and then continue sinning.
This is not ‘Tauba’. It is like making fun of Allah.

Islamic teaching presents the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam as an example of someone who would forgive others for their ignorance, even those who might have once considered themselves to be his enemies.
One example of Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam practice of forgiveness can be found in the Hadith, the body of early Islamic literature about the life of Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam. This account is as follows:
The Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam was the most forgiving person.
He was ever ready to forgive his enemies. When he went to Taif to preach the message of Allah, its people mistreated him, abused him and hit him with stones.
He left the city humiliated and wounded. When he took shelter under a tree, the angel of Allah visited him and told him that Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) sent him to destroy the people of Taif because of their sin of maltreating their Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam prayed to Allah to save the people of Taif, because what they did was out of their ignorance.

Nothing is hard if Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), wants to make it easy. it also takes our willpower and determination. Forgiveness can be learnt only when one has committed a sin and has realized that Allah, the Magnificent and Benevolent has forgiven him/her. Then it makes it easy for us to forgive our fellow-beings. If we want Allah to forgive us, we should be able to forgive others that have hurt us and we should try our best not to repeat our mistakes. Surely, Allah is All-Forgiving and the Most Merciful. Allahu Akbar. May Allah forgive all of us who repent and give us the goodness of this world and the after.

The Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam said: “Allah accepts the repentance of His servant, so long as death has not reached his collar bone” He also stated: “O people! Turn to Allah in repentance and seek His forgiveness, for surely I make repentance a hundred times every day.” “One who repents from sin is like one without sin.” Allah has made this temporary abode extremely very attractive for us. There are temptations at every step of the way. At the same time the will of the human being is enfeebled with the constant cajoling and coaxing of Satan. Given the luxuries of this world and the clear indication of the easy path, we succumb to the trap and land into a sinful engagement. This is the test that we are put to every now and then and only believers are expected to win over this dilemma. As an alternative, if one is found in a compromising state there is always a path of salvation in the form of honest and sincere repentance. It is the most beloved and exalted form of obedience for Allah. Allah loves those who truly repent. Its stature near Allah is equivalent to worship. Repentance tends to foster in the heart a sense of humility and the recognition that human beings are subservient to the mighty will of Allah and that He alone possesses the power to pardon us.

The first step of repentance is to recognize that you've committed a sin against Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD),'s commandments.
Feel true sorrow for what you've done and for disobeying Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD),
Feel sorrow for any pain you may have caused toward other people.

The word ‘Tawba’ in Arabic means ‘to return’.
This word has been used on many occasions in the Holy book and the context of this word has been to relinquish what is forbidden and to enjoin what Allah has ordained upon us.
This concept of Tawba is at the heart of Islamic beliefs. The Holy Quran mentions: “... and turn you all together in repentance to Allah O believers, that you may be successful” An-Noor (24:31).
Surah al-Baqarah, says: “Surely Allah loves those who turn unto him in repentance and loves those who purify themselves.” (2:222).
Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam signified the importance of repentance with the following: “Allah is more delighted with the repentance of His servant than one of you would be,
Who suddenly finds his camel laden with supplies after losing it in a barren land”.

Many non Muslims think our religion is too hard and that we view Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), as only to be feared. Where as, in reality Islam combines an equal amount of Love, Fear, and Hope.  We are only humans so inevitably we will make mistakes and sin from time to time. Often, we tend to despair when we commit a sin. But Alhamdu lillah, our forgiveness is only a prayer away. We don’t need any intercessors. We don’t have to pray to anyone else. We have a direct link. Mash ‘Allah what a beautiful religion……. (A beautiful Way of Life)!
On the authority of Anas, who said: I heard the messenger of Allah say?
Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), the Almighty has said: “O son of Adam, so long as you call upon me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it

Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) has created the human being as a marvel amongst His creation indeed; however, we are all epitomes of mistakes and are fallible.
We err on many occasions throughout the day during the course of our normal lives.
Many of our actions advertently or inadvertently detract from the righteous path and we are but sinful creatures.
Much as we deviate from truth and veer towards the vice, in equal measure and infect much more,
We find the merciful aspect of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), manifesting it on many occasions.
Despite our wrongdoings and our failings Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), continues to grant us with multitudes of bounties.
He showers upon us his countless blessings, whether we ask for them or not, He grants generously in spite of our unbecoming deeds.
Every chapter of the Holy Quran opens with the verse ‘In the name of Allah, the most beneficent and merciful’.
Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam is reported to have said that the kindness of Allah far exceeds his wrath and he loves His creation equivalent to the love of 70 mothers.
“Say ‘O my slaves who have transgressed against themselves! Despair not for the mercy of Allah, verily Allah forgives all sins.
Truly he is oft forgiving, most merciful.” Az-Zumar (39:53) Allah addresses the believers in a Hadith–ul-Qudsi. “O son of Adam,
So long as you call upon me, and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam,
Were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you.
O son of Adam were you to come to me with sins nearly as great as the earth, and were you then to face me, ascribing no partner to me,
I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it.”

Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) says in the Qur’an: “Except those who repent, have faith and good deeds, those Allah will charge their sins for good deeds.
Certainly Allah is most forgiving and merciful.” (Qur’an 25:70) Repentance creates a soul satisfying experience.
It relieves the self of burden and brings the believer in a closer bond with Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD),
On the contrary when one sins without any remorse, the ill deeds tends to harden the heart and to deter seeking forgiveness.
It seals the mind and soul towards seeking Allah’s blessings, the sinner gets further entwined in a spiral of sins.
Eventually this life of indulgence and ignorance leads to blatant rejection of Allah’s commandments which eventually isolates him from the right path completely.
The only recourse for such people is to awaken their conscience and to reflect on the wrong and then to seek Divine forgiveness with the purest of intentions and therefore never to return to the world of misdeeds.
Hazrat Abu Bakr Al Siddiq Radiyallaahu Anhu narrated: “I heard Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam saying: ‘There isn’t a man who, when he commits a sin, rises, makes ablution, and offers two rak’ah of prayers, but Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), forgives his sins.’

The Holy Quran says: “Those (are the true believers) who, when they commit an evil deed, or wrong their souls, remember Allah, and seek forgiveness for their sins - and who but Allah forgives sins?
They do not insist upon the sins they have committed, and they know (that Allah is forgiving).” (Qur’an 3:135) Seeking forgiveness of sins is a sure shot solution to all our trials and tribulations.
It has been noted that once a person came to Hazrat Ali (Radiyallaahu Anhu.) and asked him for the solution of repaying the debts, Hazrat Ali (Radiyallaahu Anhu.) was told to do Tawba and seek repentance from Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD),
The other person came asking for the remedy of a sickness, Hazrat Ali (Radiyallaahu Anhu.) was prescribed the same Tawba and seek repentance from Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD),
Yet another person came asking for the bestowing of an offspring from Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), and Hazrat Ali (Radiyallaahu Anhu.) was also told to do ‘Istighfar’ as much as possible. Hazrat Ali (Radiyallaahu Anhu.) said: “The sin that makes you sad and repentant is more liked by Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), than the good deed which turns you arrogant.” Allah has His doors of mercy open upon His beings.
He forgave Adam and Eve for their sin of eating the forbidden fruit.
Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) says that He shall forgive every sin except ‘Shirk’. When a sinner repents Allah says:
“My servant committed a sin and then he came to realize that he has a Lord who holds the sinner responsible and accountable,
And also that he has a Lord who forgives the sins if asked for forgiveness: So let him be forgiven.”

Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam said: “Our Lord comes down to the lowest heaven when one-third of the night remains, and says, ‘Who will call upon me so that I may answer him?
Who will ask me so that I may give to him? Who will seek? My forgiveness so that I may forgive him?’” (Narrated by Muslim, no. 758) Sincere repentance is not mere lip service through words.
It has to be enacted in spirit by refraining from the dislikes of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), and devoting oneself to the righteous causes with a concrete vow of abstinence.

Abu Huraira (Radiyallaahu Anhu.)  Said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah (saws) say, ‘A servant committed a sin and he said, "O Allah, I have committed a sin, so forgive me." Allah said, "Does my servant know that he has a Lord who forgives sins and helps him? I forgive my servant." After some time, the man committed another sin so he said, "O my Lord, I have committed another sin, so forgive me." His Lord said "Does my servant know that he has a Lord who forgives sins and helps him? I forgive my servant." After some time the man committed yet another sin so he said. "O my Lord, I have committed another sin, so forgive me." His Lord said, "Does my servant know that he has a Lord who forgives sins and helps him? O servant do what you like, I have granted you forgiveness."
Al-Bukhari

Aisha, Radiyallaahu Anha. (May Allah be pleased with her), said:

"It is a fortunate person who (on the Day of Judgment) finds in his record many Dua’s (supplications) for forgiveness."

In other words, seeking Allah’s forgiveness is a cure for all wrong actions.

In Islam you ask Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), directly for forgiveness.
At home on a prayer mat if you may, Straight to Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), without any in betweens.

“Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) is both infinitely merciful and infinitely just".

If you ask Him for forgiveness with sincerity for anything He will forgive you.
But Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) is also just.
"That is the grace of Allah which He bestows on whom He pleases.
And Allah is the Owner of Great Bounty." [57:21]

"This Qur’an guides you to the recognition of your illnesses and to their remedies.
Your illnesses are your sins and your medicine is seeking Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)’s forgiveness."

May the spirit of Ramadan
Illuminate the world and show us the way to peace and harmony.

May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) make our efforts sincere and keep us all on the straight path...........

Zainab Radiyallaahu Anha, bint Ali Radiyallaahu?

Hazrat Zainab Radiyallaahu Anha,

Who was Bibi Zainab Radiyallaahu Anha, bint Ali   Radiyallaahu?

Zainab Radiyallaahu Anha was the third child of Ali ibn Abi Talib Radiyallaahu Anhu and Bibi Fatima Zahra Radiyallaahu Anha.

She was born in Medina and was named by Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam after her eldest aunt, then deceased.

Zainab means an ornament or an adornment of her father. Allah (SWT) gave this name to her through His messenger who was alive at the time of her birth. Her titles were:

 Siddiqa: meaning the truthful one.

Sabirah: meaning the patient one.

Aqeelatu: Bani Hashim meaning the most intelligent of Bani Hashim

Zainab Radiyallaahu Anha lost her mother Bibi Fatima Radiyallaahu Anha   when she was only three years old and she grew extremely close to her full brothers,
Hasan and Husain Radiyallaahu Anhuma.

Zainab Radiyallaahu Anha was born in the year 5 A.H., and was brought up in the arms of personalities like the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam) And Ali Bin Abi Talib Radiyallaahu Anhu.

She is the daughter of Ali Bin Abi Talib Radiyallaahu Anhu,.(one of the most powerful and influential heroes of Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam) 's army, would rule the Muslim Empire as the last of the Four Rightly-Guided Caliphs and would garner himself a place as one of the greatest  heroes in the history of Islam.) And her mother Fatima Radiyallaahu Anha bint Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam (talking about Fatima Radiyallaahu Anha,) as a mother

Is inseparable from talking about the Masters of Heaven's Youth, Imam Hassan Radiyallaahu Anhu and Imam Hussein Radiyallaahu Anhu and their sister,

Zainab Radiyallaahu Anha, The mother of calamities).

Hazrat Zainab Radiyallaahu Anha. Was one of the most knowledgeable Muslim women?

She obtained her knowledge from Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam) and when Hazrat Ali Radiyallaahu Anhu, moved to Kufa,

The women there sought his permission through their husbands to allow them to acquire knowledge from Hazrat Zainab Radiyallaahu Anha,.

She became known as ‘The Wise Lady of the Hashim Clan’ (Aqeelat-al-Bani Hashim).

Hazrat Zainab Radiyallaahu Anha was one of the Muslim women who proved that women were as intelligent and capable as any man.

Her intelligence was without any comparison and no male could match up with her knowledge and wisdom.

Imam Ali Zayn-ul-Abideen (RA) gave her the name ‘Alimah Ghair Mualimmah’ which would roughly mean ‘scholar without a teacher’.

Her brothers Imam Hasan Radiyallaahu Anhu, and Imam Husain Radiyallaahu Anhu respected her and her knowledge a lot.

She had an active role in society and would teach the women of Medina about Islam and imparted to them her knowledge of the Quran and Islam.

Her ability to teach with clarity became well known for which she was further given the titles ‘Baligah’ and ‘Fasihah’ meaning ‘intensely eloquent’ and ‘skillfully fluent’.

Her life was devoted to the Muslim community and she did not show any attachment to the material gains even though her husband was a wealthy man.

She led a modest life without the luxuries and only the necessities.

        Her nursing career

Her nursing career started with treating her mother (Fatima Radiyallaahu Anha, bint Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam).) During her illness, in the year: 40 A.H.,

She also nursed her father Ali Bin Abi Talib Radiyallaahu Anhu who was struck on the head by Ibn-e-Muljam Muradi, until the last moment of his life.

In the year 50 A.H. she treated her brother Hassan Radiyallaahu Anhu who was severely poisoned until he reached martyrdom.

Battle of Karbala, -Hazrat Zainab Radiyallaahu Anha was right beside him. This was the tragic incident of Karbala which the Muslim world remembers till today.

Each person in that incident played and important part and Hazrat Zainab Radiyallaahu Anha was a woman who sacrificed both her sons and prayed to Allah

Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) to accept this humble sacrifice.

Such were the people of thought and wisdom and their love for Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) and His religion was so great that nothing could ever compare to it.

In the year 61 A.H. during the battle of Karbala, she attended the battle as a Great and Brave Lady who accompanied her brother Hussein Radiyallaahu Anhu.

She was involved in encouraging the injured people, family of the martyrs and also taking care of the children and the remaining members of the families.

In the meantime, she nursed her nephew Ali ibn-al-Hussein (R.A.) who was very sick during the battle of Karbala and his son Muhammad ibn-Ali-al-Baqir (R.A.).

This Great Lady with her patience and sincere dedication nursed not only her mother, but 5 Imams R.A. (Subhan'Allah) and recorded her capability in the History of Islam.

Life: of Hazrat Zainab Radiyallaahu Anha. Teaches the Muslims till today that their main cause in this world should be to strive in the path of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)

And thus although she knew her sons would be martyred,

She supported them when they were preparing to fight against the army of Yazid.

After the Martyrdoms of Ashura

After the massacre of Imam Hussein bin 'Ali Radiyallaahu Anhuma and his companions at Karbala, the forces of Yazid bin Muawiyah took the children and women of Hussein’s Radiyallaahu Anhu caravan as prisoners. They were taken from Karbala to Kufa and from Kufa to Damascus, the capital and stronghold of Umayyad power.

In the Court of Yazid

In Damascus, the women and children were presented into the court (darbar) of Yazid. Yazid had assembled all the dignitaries and officers of his capital for that occasion. When the prisoners where brought in, they saw that Imam Hussein’s head was at the foot of Yazid's thorn.

Yazid was joyfully reciting some poems in which he openly rejected the Prophet hood of  Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam and called on his ancestors (who were killed by the Muslim army in the battle of Badr) to witness the revenge which he had extracted from the family of the Prophet.

It was under such emotionally charged circumstances that Zainab Radiyallaahu Anha. Bint Ali Radiyallaahu Anhu, the courageous daughter of a courageous father, stood up and gave a very moving speech in response to Yazid's statements.

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Universe, Allah's blessings be on His Messenger's Family altogether.

Allah says: "Then the end of those who do evil deeds is that they reject the verses of Allah and ridicule them". (Quran 30:10)

Oh Yazid! Do you think that by making us prisoners in such a way that we are being taken from one place to another in humiliation - do you think that by this you have humiliated us in the sight of Allah and have earned respect for yourself?!

This apparent success of yours is the result of grandeur of your might and lofty status for which you are proud…. You feel that you have conquered the whole world and your affairs are organized and that our domain is now under you control…

And are you forgetting that Allah has said:

"Surely those who have bought unbelief at the price of faith shall do no harm at all to Allah, and they shall have a painful chastisement". (Quran 3:177)

Then Zainab Radiyallaahu Anha reminds Yazid that his grandmother and other relatives came into the fold of Islam only after the fall of Mecca at the hands of the Muslims. Since Mecca was taken without any war or bloodshed, legally the entire inhabitant could have been made the slaves of the Prophet.

But the Prophet, out of his mercy, declared to the people of Mecca that

'I release you from the bonds of slavery, you are free.' In other words, Zainab Radiyallaahu Anha wanted Yazid to remember that his ancestors were the 'freed slaves' of her grandfather.

Look at the courage of Zainab Radiyallaahu Anha! Standing as a prisoner in the court of Yazid, she does not hesitate to remind him of his reality.

Is it justice, O son of the freed slaves!, that you provide your ladies and slave-girls with Hijaab, whereas the daughters of the Messenger of God are held prisoners?

You have insulted them by taking away the covers; you have exposed their faces to the enemies -- from one city to another. Everyone irrespective of his high or low status stares at their faces. These ladies do not have their gents or protectors with them.
Then Zainab Radiyallaahu Anha reminds the audience of the origins of Yazid: his grandmother, Hind (the wife of Abu Sufyan), had ordered her slave after the battle of Uhud to cut open the chest of Hamza, the Prophet's uncle, and chewed upon his liver to 'quench' her anger for death of her father and brother who were killed in Badr.

But, of course, how can we expect protection from him whose mouth spits out the heart of the pious people, whose flesh has grown from the blood of martyrs? And why should he not hate us who is jealous of us and shamefully say:

'I wish my ancestors had seen me today; they would congratulate me and pray that my hand would never be weak'.

He is saying this while; he is hurting [with his cane] the teeth of Hussein, the leader of the Youths of Paradise.

Why should he not say these things -- he who has cursed his feelings and sores by spilling the blood of Muhammad's family, the stars of the family of 'Abdul Muttalib?

You call your ancestors hoping that they will answer you. You will be put together with them and then you will regret and say had my tongue become dumb so that I would not have said what I said.

O Allah! Give us our right, and avenge those who have oppressed us; and send your anger upon those that spilled our blood and killed our protectors

By Allah! O Yazid, by killing 'Hussein you have not torn but your own skin and you have not cut but your own flesh. You will be brought to the Prophet with the crimes of spilling the blood of his children and humiliating his family.

Sayidina Zainab (Radiyallaahu Anha) possessed vast knowledge of divinely laws. She was a Mufassir of the Holy Qur’an and also a Muhadditha who related and explained the prophetic narrations. She was considered to be the most authentic source of hadith during her life.

She is a metaphor for the defiance of the oppressed against the oppressor, the victory of truth against falsehood.  It is through her extraordinary handling of the trials in Karbala, Kufa, and Sham (modern day Syria), she endured that we have caught glimpses of the untold depths of her courage, forbearance, patience and submission to the decree of Allah (swt).
It was Zainab’s (Radiyallaahu Anha) destiny to proclaim to the world the sacrifices made by Imam Husain (R.A) and the other members of the family of the Holy Prophet (saw) for the cause of Islam. She exposed the evil deeds of Ibn Zaid and Yazid with courage and fearlessness. She endured physical pain and mental torture with fortitude and was a source of strength to all around her and never once did she rebel against the destiny decreed by Allah. The strength of her submission was divine, yet her lamentation poignantly human.

We feel sad that we weren't around the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam but really we should be grateful Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) didn't place these test of the Sahabi upon us,

Surely we would be the greatest of cowards..!!

All were equal in their own special ways.

All would sacrifice their live for the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam

All would sacrifice their lives for Islam.

Thus no comparisons all were simply amazing.

"The sin which makes you sad and repentant is more liked by Allah than the good deed which turns you arrogant"
Imam Ali Radiyallaahu Anhu)

Children and Fasting in the month of Ramadan

The most common question about children and fasting in the month of Ramadan is: how long should the child fast?

Children should not fast as long as adults may. That is, lengthy and extended fasts for children should be properly planned, supervised, and wisely considered.

Short-term fasts for children, (3, 5 hours) however, may be safely undertaken by knowledgeable parents.

The needs of a child when fasting are basically the same as an adult's: warmth, quiet, rest, fresh air. (Time for Zikr Allah)

.Youngsters has vital and relatively clean bodies that respond well to a Sawm (fast).

All the body's functions are normalized during a fast. Indigestion, constipation, headaches, colds, fevers, diarrhea,

And a host of other childhood complaints often disappear quickly during a fast.

The body can discharge its eliminative tasks much speedier during a fast.

Fasting also allows a child's weight to normalize. Overweight children will lose excessive pounds during a fast,

While under weight youngsters often quickly add pounds after a fast.

The easiest way to handle this problem for a child past 5 or 7 years old is to let him see that Ramadan, Sawm (fasting) is a natural thing to do,

And is not a punishment from Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) or something to be afraid of. Our culture promotes eating and overfeeding.

(Like ice cream, chocolate chip cookies, Deep fried foods, e.g. pakoras samosas, fried dumpling,

And lots and lots of peanut butter sandwiches).  (Yes! overfeeding.  Take a good look at your Iftar today).

Those of us who have anything to eat at all, we have it easy. We have been blessed by Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), and we should be thankful for everything we have been given,

No matter how small it may be.

There are many goals of fasting we are constantly reminded of.

Self-restraint and increasing Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) consciousness are among them.

One that is not mentioned frequently enough is that when we fast, we are supposed to feel hungry.

The problem is we do not want to feel hungry. We stuff ourselves in the morning, and stuff ourselves in the evening once more.

This attitude of overeating in Ramadan will not allow us to reach the goals intended by fasting.

Yes, we should feel the pangs of hunger everyday. Feel your stomach churning while at work, school, and at home.

Let these pangs remind you of those who are fasting not because they want to, but because they have nothing to eat.

When we reflect on this, it will cause us to be more generous during times when we are required to give charity,

Because we have an idea of how they feel and what they go through everyday.

Complaining to other people is an indication you are not thankful to Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) for what you have.

At least you get to eat at the end of the day. At least you have your health.

At least you have a home to sleep in every night. So let us desist from complaining in these coming years,

And let us use that time to instead remember Allah SWT, recite the Qur’an, and ask Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) for forgiveness.

We ask Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) to make fasting easy for us, and we ask Him to accept from us our fasting in this month of Ramadan.

“Look to those who are inferior to you and do not look to those who are superior to you, for this will keep you from belittling Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)’s Favor upon you.” (Sahih Bukhari).

You must show your child the other side of the coin, and develop good health habits at an early age. (At Iftar- 3 dates and Small glass juice).

In this way the child will be a participant in the holy month of Ramadan rather than an outcast.

As a Muslim growing up Ramadan to me was the month where you had to fast by refraining from eating and drinking from sunrise till sunset,

I had to do it because it was my religion I never understood the benefit of it at the time...

I did it because I looked forward to the time where we broke the fast and eat all these amazing food that my mum cooked for us.

There was something different about that month (Ramadan) that I never noticed in any other months the peaceful state of mind, as well as the power in the air especially at night.

Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) almighty created us for one purpose to worship him and to help each other it doesn’t matter color or religion we all came from one source,

And that source needs to be cleaned and refreshed and the best way to do it for Muslims is by fasting the month of Ramadan the month where the

Quran was revealed to our prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him.

Stop complaining this Ramadan too. (Ramadan is family affair)

Example of complain in the holy month of Ramadan:

Man, I am tired, when is Maghrib time again (really when is Iftar)?’

‘I cannot take this anymore. If it stays this hot, I may have to break my fast.’

‘Why does Ramadan have to be during this time of year?’

These are from among the many complaints we will here in the coming years during the month of Ramadan.

For those who did not know, the month of Ramadan moves up 11 days every year of the solar calendar.

So for the next several years, we will have Ramadan right in the middle of the summer. It will be hot.

The days will be longer. Muslims will complain.

There are many goals of fasting we are constantly reminded of. Self-restraint and increasing Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)-consciousness are among them.

One that is not mentioned frequently enough is that when we fast, we are supposed to feel hungry.

The problem is we do not want to feel hungry.

We stuff ourselves in the morning, and stuff ourselves in the evening once more. (The greater the food you eat for suhoor the harder the fast.

Simply because you stretch the stomach, and once the stomach empties slightly, the hunger receptors start firing (forgot the technical term).

Hence the person desires more food. Eat 1/3… drink lots of fluid… and InshaAllah time will fly.)

Complaining to other people is an indication you are not thankful for what you have.

At least you get to eat at the end of the day.

At least you have your health.

At least you have a home to sleep in every night.

So let us desist from complaining in these coming years,

And let us use that time to instead remember Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD), recite the Qur’an, and ask Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) for forgiveness.

As Muslims we might not drink alcohol do drugs but our weakness is food this is where we lose it ….

But just remember food is what make you act and react after a long day fasting, if you are not careful you will fall asleep

And get even unhealthier if you don’t do it right!

The blessed Prophet Peace be Upon him said: “The children of Adam fill no vessel worse than their stomach.

Sufficient for him is a few morsels to keep his back straight.

If he must eat more then a third should be for his food, a third for his drink, and a third left for his air.

We ask Allah to make fasting easy for us, and we ask Him to accept from us our fasting in this month of Ramadan.

It may be tough for those who live in this part of the world but remember that ALLAH AZA WAJALLAH is Ar-Rahman Ar-Rahim - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Ar-Rahim is exclusively for the believers.'' In which sense”? In the sense that, come winter time ALLAH AZA WAJALLAH has compensated for the believers by

Making the night time longer and the day time shorter and that is the opposite in the summer time, night time shorter and day time longer.

For instance when you fast say the month of December you will the morning prayer is around 6.50 (06.50) in the morning that means you can eat your suhur around

6 pm in the morning and when is Maghrib it’s around 3.30 in the evening (15.30) and that’s iftar, when one can break his or her fast.

That around 8 hours of fasting and its gets better if you live up north of me. So why complain of the long hours in the summer time and yet forget the shorter time in the winter time SUBHANALLAH that is the bounty of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)
AZA WAJALLAH. Only a true believer can reflect this without complaining.

THAT’S THE TRUE JUSTICE FROM THE KNOWER OF THE VISIBLE AND INVISIBLE.

So don’t take a vacation when June comes Instead, we stay and perform our duty and be grateful.

We often hear that the wisdom or one of the wisdoms, of fasting is to know how poor people feel when they haven’t eaten for a few days.

You can fast for days without breaking your fast and you won’t relate to the poor person.

What really hurts the poor is not the hunger; it is the humility of having to knock on somebody’s door at odd hours to ask for food.

Humility, of not being able to work and earn food and having to ask for it.

The humility: of not being able to feed their own children and having to beg.

Abu Hurairah (Radiyallaahu ‘anhu), related that the Messenger of Allah A said,

"Poor Muslims will enter Paradise before rich (Muslims) by a period of half a day (of the Hereafter), and that is 500 years (from this world)." (Ahmad)

May Allah allow everyone to benefit from this and May He forgive us fro all the times we complained and May He grants us Patience! Ameen!

"Don't depend too much on anyone in this world because even your own shadow leaves you when you are in darkness". (Depend on Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) Alone).

How unfortunate are those, who have accepted authority to be the truth, instead of truth to be the authority.

May Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) make our efforts sincere and keep us all on the straight path...........

Ramadhan is a very special time

QURAN - Surah Al Bakarah Ayah 185
Ramadan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur-an, as a guide to mankind, also Clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (between right and wrong). So every one of you who is present (at his home) during that month should spend it in fasting, but if any one is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed period (should be made up) by days later. Allah intends every facility for you; He does not want to put you to difficulties. (He wants you) to complete the prescribed period, and to glorify Him in that He has guided you; and perchance ye shall be grateful.

QURAN - Surah Al Ahzab Ayah 35
For Muslim men and women for believing men and women for devout men and women for true men and women for men and women who are patient and constant for men and women who humble themselves for men and women who give in charity for men and women who fast (and deny themselves) for men and women who guard their chastity and for men and women who engage much in Allah's praise for them has Allah prepared forgiveness and great reward.

Ramadhan is a very special time for worship, both collectively as well as individually. While study circles, congregational prayers and other activities are carried out collectively there are also many opportunities for individual worship.want more......http://islamicchildrenstudy.blogspot.com/search?q=ramadhan
