Recite Surah Al Fatiha and reap your rewards

 Still Blogging About He!He!He!
Surah: Al Fatiha.
Do you know this Sura?
If not learn it so “You" can offer your prayers.

Surah Fatiha (The Opening) is the most important Surah of the Holy Qur'an and no Muslim prayer is complete without it according to the following hadith1 of the Holy Prophet Muhammad:

'Ubaydah b. as-Samit reported God's messenger as saying, "He who does not recite Fatihat al-Kitab (Surah Fatiha) is not credited with having observed prayer."

The Arabic words Fatiha indicates an opening, beginning or commencement, and is derived from the root f-t-h which means to open, unlock, reveal, and conquer.

Abu Hurairah radiyallaahu anhu reported that when Allah’s Messenger sallallaahu alaihi Wasallam once asked Ubayy ibn Ka`b radiyallaahu anhu, what he recited in his prayers. He replied Umm-ul Qur’an (Surah Fatiha) the Holy Prophet proclaimed,
"By Him in whose dominion my soul is, nothing like it has been revealed in the Torah, the Gospel, the Psalms, or the Qur’an and it are seven of the oft-repeated verses in the Mighty Qur’an which I have been given."

Surah Al Fatiha is a Makki Surah (i.e. revealed before Hijra of Prophet (saw)).
Salah (prayer) began in the very early days of Islam and Prophet Hood. In fact, who was the first person to pray in jama’a (congregation) with the Prophet? It was Khadija radiyallaahu `anha (may Allah be pleased with her). The first person to ever pray, and to be taught Salah was Khadija bint Khuwaylid (ra).

5th Surah to be revealed in Chronology
Al-Fatiha was an early Surah. Salah started in Makkah in the early days, twice a day: once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Through Isra and Miraj, it was changed to five times a day.

Some ullama said that al-Fatiha was revealed in Makkah, as it is mentioned in Surat al-Hijr. By the agreement of the scholars, Surat al-Hijr (15) is a Meccan Surah. In the Surah, Allah says “And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur’an.” (15:87).
• It was the first Surah (Chapter) that was revealed completely
• The first 3 verses glorify Allah and the rest of the ayahs (Verses) are a prayer/dua (Invocation)
• We recite Surah Fatiha 17 times in our Salah daily. It is the most recited Surah.

• This is the greatest Surah of the Qur’an
• Al-Fatiha literally means ‘The Opening’

1 Because it is the opening of the Quran
2 Prayer opens with Surah Al-Fatiha
3 It is the opening of the door to guidance itself

Surah AL - Fatiha ah is one of the very earliest revelations. Infect, we learn from authentic traditions that it was the first complete Surah revealed to the Prophet (Peace be upon him). Before this, only a few miscellaneous verses were revealed which form parts of Surah Al-Alaq, Al- - Muzammil and Al - Muddathir.

This Surah is called Al- Fatiha ah; the Opener of the Book and the Surah with which prayers are begun.
It is the greatest Surah in the Qur’an, and it is also called Umm Al-Kitab (Mother of the Book), because it contains the meanings of the entire Qur’an. Other names for this Surah are; Salah, Al-hamd, Umm al-Qur'an...

Number of Ayat
There is consensus of majority of the scholars; from early generations that
Surah Al - Fatiha contains seven ayat. However, they disagree over whether

Bismillah is a part of Al-Fatiha, and likewise every Surah or it is a separate ayah. The first opinion, that Bismillah is a part of every Surah except Surah Al- Tauba, is attributed to some Companions (May Allah be pleased with them all), Imam As-Shafi,  He state that

Bismillah is a part of Al-Fatiha and the last ayat; “The Way of those whom you have favored” and “not of those who have earned your wrath, or of those who have lost The Way.” are not separate ayat but a single ayah. On the other hand, Imam Malik, Imam Abu Hanifa and their follower’s say that Bismillah is not an ayah in AL- Fatiha ah or any other Surah and it is a separate ayah in the beginning of every ayah. But there is no disagreement over the matter that Al- Fatiha has seven ayat. Those who consider last two ayat as one ayah include Bismillah in it and those who consider the last two as separate say Bismillah Not a part of it.

Virtues of Surah Fatiha

Abu Sa’eed ibn Al-Mu’alla radiyallaahu anhu said,
"While I was praying in the Masjid, the Prophet Sallallaahu alaihi Wasallam called me. I did not answer him then, but went to him afterwards and explained that I had been praying, whereupon he asked me whether Allah Ta’aala had not said, ‘Respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you.’ adding, ‘let me teach you the greatest Surah in the Qur’an before you leave the Masjid.’ He then took me by the hand and when we were about to go out I reminded him of his promise to me that he would teach me the greatest Surah in the Qur’an. He said, Surah Fatiha which is the seven oft-repeated verses in the Mighty Qur’an which has been given to me."

Hasan al Basri (ra), many years ago, said something which when I read it, and my teacher told it to me when I was memorizing Qur’an with him, Subhan’Allah it really shook me. And every time I hear it, it really touches me. He says that God Almighty, Allah, sent some 100 or more books from the heavens and He condensed these books into four books: the Torah, Zabur, Injil, and Qur’an. This is amazing. Then Allah took these four books and condensed them into the Qur’an. Then Allah took all of the knowledge in the Qur’an and condensed it from Surah al-Hujurat (the 49th chapter of the Quran) all the way to Surah al-Nas. Then He took all of that—from 100 or so something, to four, to the Quran, to what’s called al-Mufassal (from the 49th chapter to the end)—He took all of that and condensed it in al-Fatiha. “Subhan’Allah”. Then He took all of that and condensed it into:
1:5

“It is you we worship and you we ask for help.” (Qur’an, 1:5)

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (PBUH), who said:
A prayer performed by someone who has not recited the Essence of the Quran (1) during it is deficient (and he repeated the word three times), incomplete. Someone said to Abu Hurayrah: [Even though] we are behind the imam? (2) He said: Recite it to yourself, for I have heard the Prophet (may the blessings and peace of Allah be up on him) say: Allah (mighty and sublime be He), had said: I have divided prayer between Myself and My servant into two halves, and My servant shall have what he has asked for. When the servant says: Al-hamdu lillaahi rabbi l-Alamin (3), Allah (mighty and sublime be He) says: My servant has praised Me. And when he says: Ar-Rahman r-Rahim (4), Allah (mighty and sublime be He) says: My servant has extolled Me, and when he says: Maliki yawmil d-din (5), Allah says: My servant has glorified Me - and on one occasion He said: My servant has submitted to My power. And when he says: Iyyaka na’ budu wa Iyyaka nasta in (6), He says: This is between Me and My servant, and My servant shall have what he has asked for. And when he says: Ihdina s-Sirat l- Mustaqeem, siratal ladhina an amta alayhim ghayril-maghdubi alayhim WA la d-dallin (7), He says: This is for my servant, and my servant shall have what he has asked for.

The essence of Surah Al-Fatiha is that mankind is crying out to the Glorious Creator and Sustainer: “O Almighty Rabb ul Alamin! Help me and show me the Right Path, the Royal highway leading to the Path of Seerathal Mustaqeem”.

SURAH FATIHA IS BEAUTIFUL, AND SUMS UP WHAT IT IS TO BE A MUSLIM.
