The best
greeting I can start with is the greeting of Islam, and the greeting of Islam
is peace.
So, peace and mercy be upon you.

Allah Miracles happen every day.
Do you not believe that miracles can happen in your life as
well?
Do you think that you are too insignificant for that?
Subhan’Allah.
Allah sees and knows every fallen leaf, every grain in the
darkness of the earth; and He knows your innermost thoughts.
He is closer to you than your jugular vein. (Qur’an 50:16)
Here is the big Question:
How many of us make Dua for others?
1. Dua; s
for those who are alive?
2. Dua; s
for those who are dead?
In the last few weeks, I have heard several times people
saying, “Please make Dua for me,”
Most of us, reply with: “InshAllah…or …o.k.”
And I believe that most of us do make dua's for our
brother/sister’s.
We might include their name in our Dua's, or we might make a
hurried Dua as we carry on with our busy lives.
My friends Today, I remind you that Prayer is a gift from Almighty
ALLAH Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) to us.
A prayer is a gift of love.
When ones gives a
gift, He/She, Will want his/her gift to be the best possible gift He/She can
give.
Dua is powerful weapon for the believer.
How many of us really make Dua for others when we are asked
“make Dua for me”?
It’s a common request used by all of us especially in times
of need.
First let’s make Dua for Muslims who are suffering.
The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu
alayhi wasallam) said:
The
supplication of a Muslim for his (Muslim) brother in his absence will certainly
be answered.
Every time he makes a supplication for good for his brother,
the angel appointed for this particular task says: ‘Ameen! May it be for you,
too’?

Those who are ill, those who Want Children, Exams, Career, Job
Hunting,
Marriage Problems, Want to Get Married, Debt problems.
Let’s make Dua:-Innalhamda lillaahi, nahmaduhu WA

We praise Him and

I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped
except You.
I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance"
Ameen...
My friends it is very
serious if someone asks us to make du’a for them
And we agree to it or say InshAllah` we will do it.
Saying Insh’Allah doesn’t just mean maybe, we should make an
effort to do it Insh’Allah.
An advice I received from my old teacher (Ustaad) one time
was that if someone asks you for dua’s, You should make it right there
And then (or while walking away from them even), Do not
delay! Also, ask people what they want dua’s for.
They sometimes get caught off guard for this but many times
they themselves haven’t really thought about it.
This way, it makes the person asking more reflective of what
he/she would really like us to make dua’s for
And it puts an onus on us not to forget.
One day The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi
wasallam), noticed a Bedouin leaving his camel without tying it.
He asked the Bedouin, "Why don't you tie down your
camel?"
The Bedouin answered, "I put my trust in Allah."
The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) then
said,
"Tie your camel first, then put your trust in
Allah" (Tirmidhi).
Turn each anxiety, each fear and each concern into a Dua
(supplication).
Look at it as another reason to submit to
Almighty ALLAH Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) and be in Sajda
(prostration),
During which you are closest to Almighty ALLAH Subhanahu WA
Ta’aala (GOD).
Almighty ALLAH Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) listens and
already knows what is in your heart,
But He wants you to ask Him for what you want.
Dua is the essence of worship (The Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallallaahu
alayhi wasallam) as quoted in Tirmidhi).
"Call on your Lord with humility and in private: for
Allah loveth not those who trespass beyond bounds.
Do not make mischief on the earth, after it hath been set in
order, but call on Him with fear.
And longing (in your hearts): for the mercy of Allah is
(always) near to those who do good" (Qur’an 7:55-56).
Prayers for the Dead
Abu Hurairah reported, "The Holy Prophet Muhammad
(Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said,
'The righteous works that continue to benefit a believer
after his death
Include the knowledge that he taught and spread among
others, a righteous son (children) whom he leaves behind,
Or a copy of the Qur'an that he bequeaths to his inheritors
or a mosque that he builds,
Or a rest house that he builds for the wayfarers or a canal
of water that he digs for the benefit of others,
Or a charity that he
gives out of his property during his life while he is sound of health.
He will continue to receive reward for all these even after
his death.'
Related: by Ibn Majah.
When a Person Dies
The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) has
made it very clear that when a person dies,
He can no longer do anything about his future life except in
one of three ways:
1…This is a continuous act of charity
(Sadqah Jariya). Sadqah Jariya
This is a continuous act of charity (Sadqah Jariya). Sadqah Jariya:
This is any good deed done from which
People continue to benefit despite the demise of the person
who originated it.
i.e... the establishment of a Madrassa or Masjid from which
people are rightly guided will be Sadqah Jariya for the person who established
it.
Having a well dug or a shade or fruit tree planted will also
accrue good deeds for a person, as long as the well or tree benefits people.
2... “knowledge which is beneficial” means knowledge
imparted verbally or by any other means through which people become better
Muslims.
As long as people
benefit from this knowledge, the teacher will receive reward for it.
3... Source of reward is having virtuous descendants.
Training of children on the right lines
And then making Dua for them to be among the righteous is
essential, So that after a person's death they continue to pray for him or her.
The prayer of righteous children in favour of parents is
very useful.
Needless to say all such deeds have to be done with
sincerity (Ikhlas) in seeking the pleasure of Allah (Subhaan WA Ta’aala).
Only when they are done to earn Allah’s pleasure will they
be rewarded by Him.
If they are done for fame, monetary gain, or any other
worldly benefit,
Then the outcome one achieves in this world is all that they
will get for it. Teaching Islam to people. “And a dutiful child who prays for
him
This defines the way for children to benefit their deceased
parents.
They should pray for them as often as they can, Requesting
Almighty ALLAH Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) to have mercy on them.
Hence, the Prophet’s Sunnah encourages us to conclude every
obligatory or voluntary prayer with the supplication:
‘My Lord: Forgive me
and my PARENTS. Bestow your mercy on them as they took care of me when I was
young.
"This prayer reads in Arabic: “Rabbi -ghfir li wa
liwalidayy. Rabbi -rhamhuma Kama rabbayani
sagheera.”
It is strongly recommended to say this prayer just before we
finish any obligatory or voluntary prayer we offer, at the end of the Tashahhud (also known as Tahiyat).
A deceased man may find his position with Almighty ALLAH
Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) improving, and he asks about the reason.
He is told by Almighty ALLAH Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) that
it is through his child’s prayer for him.
Needless to say, this applies to both mothers and fathers,
through the prayers of both their sons and daughters.
Umar RadiAllahu anhu said, "I heard the Messenger of
Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say,
"If you were to rely on Allah as He should be relied
on, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds.
They go out in the morning hungry and return in the evening
full." [At-Tirmidhi]
Birds do not ask anyone for help or go into a state of
stress anxiety or depression; they just get up and go.
Similarly, our trust
in Almighty ALLAH Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD) should cause us to be optimistic,
To get up and just do
what we have to do knowing full well that:
Nothing happens against the will of Almighty ALLAH Subhanahu
WA Ta’aala (GOD).
Now a Quranic Perspective:
In the Qur’an, Almighty ALLAH Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)
prohibits all believers from offering prayers for the disbelievers
Or idol worshippers regardless of whether they are dead or
alive:
"Neither the prophet, nor those who believe shall ask
forgiveness for the idol worshippers, Even if they were their nearest of kin,
once they realize that they are destined for Hell." 9:113
If they died as disbelievers or idol worshippers nothing and
no prayer can change their fate:
"With regard to those who have deserved the
retribution, can you save those who are already in Hell?" 39:19
This truth is known to all Qur’an readers and is not the
subject of any dispute.
1. Prayers for the believers who are still alive
When we pray for a living parent, a relative or friend we
usually implore Almighty ALLAH Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)
To cure them of an illness or assist them in adversity, etc.
This kind of prayer implores Almighty ALLAH Subhanahu WA
Ta’aala (GOD)’s Mercy on them while they are still alive.
This prayer is encouraged in the Qur’an and is heard by
Almighty ALLAH Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)
"And lower for them the wings of humility, and
kindness, and say,
"My Lord, have mercy on them, for they have raised me
from infancy." 17:24
Our
parents
Some have interpreted this verse so as to make it
permissible to offer prayers for our loved ones whether they are dead or still
alive,
However if we examine this verse, and the verse just before
it,
We find good indication that Almighty ALLAH Subhanahu WA
Ta’aala (GOD) is inviting us to pray for our parents while they are still alive.
Let us read verse 23:
“.... you shall never say to them, "Uff" (the
slightest gesture of annoyance), nor shall you shout at them; you shall treat
them amicably."17:23
The words "you shall treat them amicably" can only
mean while they are still alive, it is not possible to treat a dead person
amicably!
After they are dead, they will get a judgment in accordance
to their work on earth and in accordance to Almighty ALLAH Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)
's Mercy,
Nothing we can do can change that.
We also read that the angels offer prayers for those
(living) on earth:
"The heavens above them almost shatter, out of
reverence for Him, and the angels praise
And glorify their Lord, and they ask forgiveness for those
on earth. Absolutely, God is the Forgiver, Most Merciful." 42:5
The Messenger of Almighty ALLAH Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD)
said:
“The likeness of the believers in their mutual love, mercy
and affection is that of the body.
When one limb of it complains, the rest of the body reacts
with sleeplessness and fever”
[Bukhari and Muslim]
My friends Dua's are
defined as any invocation or prayer addressed to Almighty ALLAH Subhanahu WA
Ta’aala (GOD).
Through Dua, we strengthen our faith and our relationship
with Almighty ALLAH Subhanahu WA Ta’aala (GOD).
We find many reassurances throughout the Qur’an for those
who make Dua.
Allah the Exalted, has said: "And your Lord says: Pray
unto me: and I will hear your prayer" (Qur’an 40:60)
Prophet Muhammad,
peace be upon him, said:
“If you trust Allah with right kind of Tawakkul,
He will provide you sustenance as He provides for the birds
–
They go out in the morning with empty stomachs
And come back in the evening with full stomachs.” (Hadith in
Al-Tirmidhi)
Hadith of Ali RadiAllahu anhu who said that the hardship
that draw a man nearer to Allah is blessing,
And the hardship that takes him away from Allah is a
punishment.
So don't despair at all brothers. It is the hard rains that
wash away the dust.
May Allah grant you your wishes and make it good for your
deen, dunya and akherah. Ameen.
The world is three days: As for yesterday it has vanished,
Along with all that was in it.
As for tomorrow, you may never see it.
As for today, it is
yours, so work in it.
